Genesis10 is seeking a Manager, Systems and Storage for a leading Telecommunications company. This is direct hire role in Butler, PA.
Job Summary:
The Systems & Storage manager is responsible for managing the systems functions within the client IT Infrastructure Group a subset of the client IT Department. This position is responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring and maintaining the computer system architecture including Windows, Linux, Server Virtualization, SQL Server and core services such as Active Directory, email, monitoring, and system backup. The manager is responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance and tracking of server based systems and software. Duties include, developing, recommending and documenting plans, policies, standards, procedures and checklists; managing technology assets and analyzing requirements and developing functional and design specifications; providing system and technical support to users; recommending and implementing system and technology solutions and improvements; troubleshooting systems and technology; automating organizational tasks; and supervising activities and staff. Position is a key member of the client IT Infrastructure senior team.

Job Description:
  • Manage the staff of the systems team including motivation, hiring, terminations, reviews, and overall performance and training. Candidate should be skilled at managing technical teams.
  • Develop, manage, measure and monitor service level agreements for all systems under the IT Systems teams oversight.
  • Build and advance relationships with all IT units to ensure that IT services are communicated and adhered to.
  • Prepare cost analyses, budget plans and proposals as needed to support internal and external projects
  • Be an active member of the change, asset and problem management teams responsible for increased call avoidance, improved asset use and decreased end-user downtime.
  • Leverage industry standard best practice such as the Infrastructure Library (ITIL) to drive continual process improvement.
  • Promote a services based architecture to support the business applications teams and company objectives.
  • Perform trend analyses, and develop action plans for managing growth of systems, storage while managing complexity and reducing costs.
  • Stay abreast of trends in operations, management, technologies, sourcing, policies, procedures and other external changes that have an impact on company systems and architecture.
  • Management of up to six systems engineers
  • Server hardware and software configuration standards
  • Staffs systems team and development projects with systems engineers overseeing project deliverables for the systems team.
  • Manage service level agreement adherence and oversight for ticketing, escalation and problem resolution for systems team issues.
  • Application owner for email, enterprise monitoring, storage and instant messaging applications
  • Ensure proper escalation reporting and cross team resolution of third level issue analysis and troubleshooting as outlined by the Armstrong Incident Management processes. Must be able to be a backup for the Problem Manager role when needed.
  • Maintenance window planning, communication, staffing and oversight
  • Documentation and communication of server, storage and core services standards and processes
  • Assists in development of budgets for capacity, maintenance, growth and compliance
  • Oversee software licensing compliance in relationship to enterprise server, storage and core services applications.
  • Oversees systems architecture planning and growth developing, recommending and implementing solutions in conjunction with the Infrastructure Director.
  • Easily recognizes system deficiencies and directs staff to implement effective solutions.
  • Flexibility, openness and desire to learn.
  • Strong team personality and ability to work well within a small group openly sharing and communicating across teams.
  • Logical thinking process and troubleshooting skills.
  • Analytical skills with a keen eye to detail and follow up.
  • Ability to quickly grasp new concepts and learn to apply them to diverse situations.
  • Strong leadership orientation with the ability to create consensus and mentor others

Responsibilities/Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS or relevant degree preferred
  • Three to five years in an IT Supervisory role
  • Proven track record in managing a Systems team
  • Strong technical experience in managing, supporting and deploying Microsoft server products
  • Experience in developing server solutions for custom built and off the shelf applications in a fast paced company environment.
  • Experience and/or exposure to enterprise change and configuration management processes
  • Enterprise management of a systems team responsible for 200 plus servers
  • Multi discipline management experience of diverse technical resource within one team or as a manager of sub teams (Windows, Linux, Mainframe, SQL)
  • Proven track record of success in managing a team of 6-10 support individuals
  • Ability to manage IT projects from inception through to completion using standard project management processes.
  • Demonstrated success in consensus building and communication across diverse business and IT groups
