Genesis10 is actively seeking a Development Operations (DevOps) Engineer for a client in the financial industry located in Kansas City, MO.  This is a contract to hire opportunity.    

Description: 


The Development Operations (DevOps) Engineer works as a key member of the software development team supporting the entire development lifecycle. In this role, the DevOps Engineer manages the development infrastructure, oversees the software build process, streamlines product release, and automates the build, deployment, validation and delivery frameworks; as well as the environment configuration and other miscellaneous processes in the SDLC. The individual in this role will have experience with software development lifecycles, modern build tools, virtual environment management, and industry standard DevOps practices like Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery and Infrastructure as Code.
 
Strong organization, communication, and collaboration are essential to the success of the DevOps Engineer role. Must be able to understand the needs of all development constituents and influence adoption of evolving frameworks, practices, and processes.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with engineering teams on more efficient ways to automate configuration and operate infrastructure.
  • Own and drive improvements to build and release scripts, tools, and processes
  • Help define best practices for DevOps standards of configuration management, continuous integration, automated testing and release management
  • Support the continuous integration process
  • Accountable for the deployment process
  • Participate in the ground-up design and planning for all future products and services
  • Collaborate with peers on work estimation/planning and implementation of new versions/features of tools
  • Improves and champions our build and deployment process
  • Research and recommend technology frameworks for source management, software build, infrastructure management, and continuous integration
  • Integrate test automation framework in collaboration with software engineers
  • Provide leadership and practical knowledge for virtual computing environments like AWS
  • Consult on overall production system architecture
Required Qualifications:
  • Associates degree from a two-year college or technical school or equivalent combination of education and/or work related experience. Bachelor's degree from a four-year college in Computer Science preferred
  • 3+ years of experience and knowledge of software development, DevOps or IT operations
  • Experience with Linux/Unix platforms Build Tools; including Maven or Gradle CI Tools; including Bamboo or Jenkins Scripting languages; including Pytho or Bash Orchestration/infrastructure as code (Ansible) Source control systems; including Git or SVN Continuous integration, testing, and deployment
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work toward task completion
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • May require some weekend or evening hours and being on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of experience with test automation
  • A solid understanding of networking, firewalls, load balancers
  • Knowledge and experience managing virtual environments or cloud environments
  • Experience with JAVA development monitoring tools including AppDynamics log aggregation systems including Splunk or Elk issue tracking, and project management tools (Jira) static code analyzer tools (Fortify) code quality inspection tools (Sonarqube) managing local VirtualBox or VMWare virtual development environments using Vagranto relational databases including; DB2, Postgres
  • Understanding of deployment strategies using Docker for containerization
  • Familiarity with Agile concepts
  • Working knowledge of security standards and best practices
