Genesis10 is actively seeking a Project Manager resource for a contract position opening (contract term approximately 6 to 12 months, with probable extension) for our railroad industry client located in their Caves location (I-435 East) Kansas City, MO.
 
Description:

Leading cross-functional internal and external resources, this Project Manager has overall accountability of the execution and performance of projects and transformation initiatives. This leader will work within an existing PMO, and will need to quickly build rapport and prove credibility.
 
Key Activities:
  • Manages simultaneous Application Development and Infrastructure implementation and transformation projects, ranging from small/standard to large/complex.
  • Performs Vendor Management, working with vendors who are leading sub-teams to create plans and deliver projects as committed.
  • Oversees the projects' inter- and inner-dependencies, assessing and managing critical paths.
  • Bridges the cross-functional teams and maintains strong communications across impacted and affected groups.
  • Assists in planning and organizing resources.
  • Organizes, consults, and leads cross-functional sessions to problem-solve.
  • Develop and manage a very detailed schedule.
  • Able to coordinate technical tasks.\
  • Anticipates, mitigates, and effectively manages risks.
  • Recognizes areas for improvements.\
  • Assists the organization through transformation and organizational change.
  • Leads problem-solving, driving issues to closure.\
  • Analyzes and approves change requests. Provides rigorous control around change and cost management.
  • Summarizes status. Has the ability to provide visual presentations. Communicates program and projects' progress, issues, and risks on a regular basis.
  • Delivers effective, and adapts, communications to all levels of the organization.
  • Follows Project Management Institute (PMI) standards to define and manage project scope, quality, schedule, and budget.
  • Maintains and improves PMO processes and procedures, as necessary.
  • Fulfills additional responsibilities as assigned by the PMO Director and agreed.
Requirements:
  • This individual will need to have been part of a software modernization project in a mature enterprise level environment.
  • They will need to understand the system requirements and redundancies needed to run this application with 100% uptime.
  • They will also be working directly with internal employees and with Project Managers from UP, BNSF,CSX, Amtrak etc
  • Must haves: Recent experience managing an application development Project in a mature enterprise environment. They will also need solid communication skill in order to work with end users who are reluctant to change.
  • Works with a sense of urgency.
  • Must be attentive to details, but also be able to summarize and communicate well.
  • Great organizational and communication skills.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Self-motivated and delivers measurable progress, without requiring frequent tactical direction.
  • Establishes relationships with individuals, internally and externally, at various levels.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Transportation & Logistics Transformation Projects
  • Experience with Data Integration and Automation Project
  • Experience with IT Infrastructure (servers, network, monitoring, security)
  • Experience with Service Management, e.g. Release, Incident, and IT Change Management
  • Experience with Railroad – Positive Train Control (PTC) or like projects
  •  PMP certified.
  •  > 10 years Program, Project, and/or IT management related experience.
  • Experience managing budgets >$250K
  • Proficiency in the following tools: MS Office Suite, MS Project, CA PPM (Clarity), SharePoint, ServiceNow, SAP or like products.
  • Bilingual in English & Spanish.
