Genesis10 is seeking a Research & Development VoIP Engineer for a leading Telecommunications company.  This is a direct-hire opportunity in Evansville, IN.
Job Summary:
The R&D VoIP Engineer is primarily responsible for designing advanced voice solutions for Client’s current and future customers based on understanding their needs, mapping those needs to client products, and engineering a suitable technical solution. This position works closely with internal Product Managers, Network Engineering, Customer Care, Field Services and Management Information System teams to ensure solutions are properly configured, deployed, and supported. Additional responsibilities include evaluating customer premises equipment and ensuring network interoperability with our service delivery platforms. The evaluation includes initial discovery as well as periodic retesting for software updates and new service configurations. This position also requires the creation and execution of test plan and operational support documentation
Job Description:
  • Serve as Client’s VoIP technical expert 
  • Analyze customer requirements for advanced voice products & services and develop cost-effective voice solutions 
  • Evaluate customer premise equipment including routers, switches, firewalls, SIP, VoIP, PBX/Key systems, residential gateways, access platforms and other network equipment 
  • Ensure network interoperability with Client’s service delivery platforms
  • Develop and execute test strategy and plans and document test results
  • Recommend and document standard configurations for handoff to various teams
  • Keep abreast of new products and industry trends through both formal training and independent study
  • Work closely and communicate with a variety of vendors to gather requirements for systems and services implementations, enhancements and technology upgrades
  • Develop technical specifications and how to guides
  • Provide input to training that will support the development of training materials for sales and operational teams
  • Participate in cross-functional team meetings, providing input and suggestions for technical solutions
  • Provide technical support to and answer escalations from Operations, Customer Care, or Sales for technical questions and problems
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field (Engineering, Computer Science, etc.) or equivalent knowledge
  • 7+ years’ experience in the Telecommunications industry 
  • 5+ years’ experience with VOIP Networks
  • Expert level understanding of Session Border Controllers (Oracle, Ribbon, Perimeta), Soft Switches/Features Servers (Sonus Networks, Ribbon, BroadSoft, Metaswitch), and CPE (Adtran, Ribbon, Audiocodes)
  • Expert level understanding of Unified Communications products and solutions
  • Strong knowledge in deriving test objectives/requirement, developing procedures based on the test requirements, executing test procedures and compiling test data, interpreting the data and successfully communicating it
  • Experience with LAN and WAN hardware configurations
  • Experience with Wireless/WLAN Technologies - 802.11n,ac,ax
  • Solid knowledge of network protocols – IPv4, IPv6, DHCP, DNS, IGMP, SIP, POTS
  • Experience with Network Analysis Tools - Wireshark, NMAP, Iperf, Wireless Spectrum Analyzers
  • Advanced understanding of subnetting, routing, and switching
  • Solid knowledge of network security fundamentals and best practices
  • Experience with Windows/Linux Servers
  • Technical certifications from Juniper, Cisco, Microsoft, NEC, Mitel, or other industry-leading vendors
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Visio, Word, PowerPoint
  • Should possess strong analytical /troubleshooting skills
  • Should be highly self-motivated and a strong team player
  • Ability to simplify & standardize complex concepts / processes
  • Attitude to learn quickly and multi-task
  • Ability to work under aggressive project schedules
  • Should possess strong communication skills
