Job Description:
  • Person in this role demonstrates advanced knowledge of Industrial Microbiology and Pharmaceutical Sciences related standard scientific method and techniques.
  • Takes responsibilities for Microbiology and Life-sciences related disciplines performing basic and applied research to provide innovative solutions for reducing hospital acquired infections and improving the quality of health care.
  • Has an understanding and hand-on experience with new drug product selection and evaluation indicated for infection prevention in community and hospital settings.
  • Under minimal supervision applies scientific knowledge and skills to research and development projects, and assist in gathering information from multiple sources.

The candidate will be placed in Scientist-1 or -2 position based on past experiences relevant to the job description

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Performs routine and non-routine microbiological testing following USP, ASTM and CLSI based methods and assays for antiseptics and antimicrobials.
  • Applies knowledge of advanced microbiological techniques and good laboratory practices on daily basis.
  • Writes and revises SOPs, methods, protocols, and reports.
  • Participate in project team meetings and product design reviews.
  • Applies knowledge and skills to complete own work and develops competence in own area by performing routine work side-by-side with junior staff.
  • Ensure testing is performed accurately and in compliance with cGMP procedures, established regulatory requirements, SOPs, and other approved test methods.
  • Perform Lab investigations as needed. Implement corrective actions as applicable

Education and Experience:
Requires a minimum of BS degree in Microbiology/Life Sciences with 3+ years of relevant research experience, preferably in the industrial microbiology, pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
