General Manager

Position Summary:
The General Manager oversees client relationship support, tower repair and maintenance and capital improvement budget responsibilities.
  • Create strong collaborative team environment.
  • Supervise and manage the performance of direct reports.
  • Recruit, develop and retain staff, partnering with Senior Management, Recruiting and Human Resources. This includes on-boarding and orientation for new hires.
  • Provide disciplined performance management for team. Define and communicate annual goals, perform formal and informal performance reviews, and ensure changes and updates are communicated in a timely and professional manner.
  • Proactively identify and resolve personnel issues.
  • Performs onsite inspections of crews work and verifies crews are following safety rules and regulations based on company policy and OSHA requirements.
  • Coaching and leadership of crews.
  • Responsible for day-to-day scheduling and activities of tower crews including but not limited to, Crew Leaders, Top Tower Hands and Tower Technicians.
  • Daily interaction with team members to ensure proper focus, coordinated efforts and timely feedback.

  • Coordinates and performs Employee Performance Appraisals.
  • Oversees project completion.
  • Maintains documentation.
  • Oversee and inspect tower construction and maintenance activities including but not limited to, assembling/erecting towers, installing antennas, mounting hardware, installing fiber jumpers and connectors, grounding, testing, lighting systems, positioning and optimizing antennas and lines.
  • Assist in testing a variety of systems.
  • Ability to climb to heights over 100 feet. Must be secured to the tower at all times while on the tower. No exceptions!
  • Read, follow and communicate detailed site plans and tower drawings.
  • Have mechanical skills.
  • Participate in educational and safety opportunities as needed to refresh, update, and enhance skills and knowledge that pertain to job responsibilities, company operations, customer interests, and industry outlook. This may include workshops, webinars, learning sessions, reading materials, classroom study, etc.
  • Monitor processes. Ensure they are efficient and effective to complete work in a timely manner while being accurate.
  • Perform all duties in terms of maximizing revenues and minimizing costs.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as requested and required.

Working Conditions:
  • Working conditions are 50% normal office environment and 50% outdoors, with possible inclement weather in fluctuating climates including windy, very cold or very hot conditions.
  • Travel and overnight stays are required.
  • Road travel is essential; must be able to drive for long periods of time and/or make a series of multiple out-of-vehicle stops.
  • Implement the business plan to achieve defined goals and objectives, including capital and expense responsibilities as defined for the market portfolio.
  • Ensure solid operational relationships with wireless carriers. Establish and maintain strong positive relationships with all clients and grow the client list.
  • Provide oversight and direction, while working directly with the Operations team, to maintain all existing towers in accordance with the Companys defined standard of care.
  • Address all site repairs, maintenance, and compliance issues, including ensuring the structural integrity of the portfolio is maintained.
  • Oversee the development efforts for new wireless sites; interface with and manage client communications to drive growth of the existing assets and secure opportunities to add profitable new towers to the portfolio.
  • Identify, secure, and integrate new acquisition targets to achieve growth objectives.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Legal, Finance and other internal departments to execute all the activities required for financial feasibility, structural analysis, development and redevelopment capital expenditures, contract drafting and execution and billing.
  • Maintain positive relationships with regional service provider vendors/partners; negotiate vendor contracts, monitor vendor performances, and grow the regions vendor/partner network.
  • Support the ongoing administration and maintenance of ground leases and ground lease extensions and buyouts with landlords.
  • Provide consistent, accurate, and timely reports on business, financial, and operational parameters and information as required.
  • Oversee continuous enforcement of and compliance with all aspects of the operations business activities with applicable laws.
  • In-depth understanding and knowledge of the wireless communications and infrastructure market in the United States
  • Demonstrated track record of identifying, negotiating and executing new business development opportunities that create long-term value.
  • Ability to diagnose business challenges, then customize solutions and apply best-practices as appropriate.
  • Strong finance skill set with a solid understanding of cash flow management and project analyses capabilities.
  • Disciplined, organized, and thorough individual who is a self-starter with a demonstrated mastery in multiple tasking.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in an entrepreneurial culture.
  • Excellent relationship-development and -management skills resulting in long-term, mutually beneficial client relationships.
