The Digital Utility Operations Program (DUOP) covers a wide array of projects and applications that support client's Digital Utility strategic initiative. The Integrated Smart Operations Center (iSOC) is the hub around which Client collects operational data for performance and condition analysis, anomaly detection, and predictive analytics.
Key Digital Utility Operations applications include (but not limited to): OSI PI, Client SmartSignal, Client CycleWatch, Client GridAPM, Client APM (Cloud), EtaPRO, mPrest, and so on. Key initiatives include OSI PI Expansion and Maturation; Sensor Deployment; iSOC Executive Reporting; Asset Management (APM); Data Management and Governance.
Sr. Program Manager's key responsibilities:
Ensure master plans and schedules are followed, engage enterprise architecture and technical solution subject-matter experts for developing solutions to program challenges, and directing others for successful completion of projects on time and within budget, with the aid of quality assurance, risk mitigation, vendor management, and change management.
Provide supervision of a project or set of projects to achieve client's strategic vision, work as the head of a program office leading a team or cross functional teams, and perform liaison activities with upper management and stakeholders.
Oversee structure, processes, and procedures to accomplish objectives, which include metrics of success and associated deliverables. Alignment entails understanding a top-down vision, with goals and objectives from the business strategy flowing through to successful completion of projects for program objectives.
Ensure quality assurance includes checks and balances for compliance with standards and vision alignment. Perform regular reviews for accountability, stakeholder expectations, and vendors' or service suppliers' performance
Integrate all components for best fit leading to program success and optimize performance across program platforms to achieve the best functional and technical value.
Track all program component costs to ensure they fit within the overall program administration costs.
Lead the development and implementation of a broad, coordinated set of plans and programs to meet the goals and priorities of the department.
Cultivate contacts with vendor requirement planners or developers — to obtain information about future vendor developments in the functional area and to try to influence those developments in ways favorable to client.
Participate in outside professional activities to maintain knowledge on developments in the field. Establish liaisons with universities and other comparable vendor users to keep abreast of status of computing and communications activities at these institutions.
Continuously improve project management toolkits and methodologies. Provide expertise and consulting to project managers in the process of project management and in the softer skills of team dynamics, team building and group motivation.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Teamwork. Work collaboratively with program team, project teams, various IT teams, and related business unit staff to maintain thorough knowledge of product capabilities, and to ensure that all communications between project team and its stakeholders are precise and on the same page. Prepare correspondence, presentations and/or reports as required. Follow-up on correspondence and outstanding requests for resolution.
Organization. Coordinate for Program Team, Client and/or Vendor meetings. Assists Program Team with document distribution, scanning, copying, etc. Assemble training and testing materials or operating manuals as necessary. Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures and Industry Regulations.
Ownership. Function as a Sr. Program Manager and/or business functional lead on departmental and/or organization wide projects. Contribute expertise in his/her assigned area, execute deliverables and ensure that the project team completes project deliverables as outlined based on the project scope and business requirements.
Integrity. Promote and maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner consistent with professional standards to get along with members, co-workers, management and vendors.
Expertise. Keep abreast of industry developments including, but not limited to changes in regulations and technology.
Leadership. Demonstrated aptitude for effective leadership of staff. Strong decision-making and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects/duties. Results driven, service oriented, self-motivated and able to work independently. Trustworthy with the ability to maintain highest level of integrity and trust.
Communication Effectiveness. Demonstrate superior inter-personal skills, conflict resolution, and negotiating skills. Ensure open communication across project teams. Handle broad-based, often complex, communication for internal and/or external audiences. Create a forum and format for ongoing open communication within functional area or among departments. Defuse emotionally charged situations and use them to constructively build greater shared commitment to end goals.
Critical Thinking & Problem-Solving. Recognize problems or situations that are new or without clear precedent. Evaluate alternatives and finds solutions using a systematic, multi-step approach. Outstanding grasp of information technology concepts and processes.
Broad understanding of IT industry trends and tools as they apply to providing solutions to stated business issues and opportunities.
Ability to identify and implement practical technical solutions within acceptable business value parameters and cost/benefit determinations.
Knowledge of IT existed solutions and portfolio
Knowledge of high level programming languages, databases, or application packages.
Knowledge of LAN, SAN, hardware, VMWare, network, telecommunications and other infrastructure/data center environments and platforms.
Knowledge of Experience with Disaster Recovery Requirements and Procedures.
Knowledge of IT operation processes and procedures
Knowledge of IT server, network, and database support
Knowledge of Cloud solutions
Understands and adheres to all IT change management procedures and incident reporting
Ability to verify that applications are functioning properly after any changes
Education, Experience and Certifications
Bachelor's Degree in a technical or business discipline. An advanced degree is preferred
Project Management Certification is preferred.
Minimum 10 years of increasingly responsible experience, including experience successfully managing various programs or projects (delivered on time, within budget, meeting client requirements, with high team satisfaction), including some complex projects, and projects involving a number of project staff and clients.
