Job Description
Must have full-time satisfactory experience in the design/construction/coordination of construction projects, construction documents production and construction oversight or management.
Must meet one of the following criteria:
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college in architecture or engineering and five (5) years of experience as described in point 1; OR
  • An accredited Master's degree in the disciplines described above, or a valid New York State license as a Professional Engineer or Registered Architect and four (4) years of experience as described in point 1
  • Must possess knowledge of construction materials, practices and methods.
  • Must have solid basic knowledge of whole building design and construction drawings: Site, Architecture, Structural, HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Fire Protection systems.
  • Must have basic knowledge of applicable codes and regulations in NYC and NYS, old NYC Code, Multiple Dwelling Law, Zoning Regulations, Landmarks and ADA
  • Must have good competence using MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and Adobe pdf.
  • Great verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Must be highly organized, efficient, effective, able to multi-task, expeditious, meticulous, and able to self-manage fifty to one hundred projects with various due dates.
Proposed Candidate Preferred/Desired Criteria:
NYS Licensed Architect or Engineer with experience in at least one of the following areas:
  • NYC DOB filing and plan examination process,
  • Working on Landmarks buildings,
  • Environmental hazardous building projects
Thirty-five (35) hours per week for potentially up to a five year period
Job Duties
  • Under direct supervision of the Deputy Chief Architect, review architect/engineer reports with drawings and redlines of the Offering Plans and issue deficiency comments in compliance with NYCRR Title, within the given timeframe. These reports describe all aspects of the property and building: including site, landscaping, structural, architectural, plumbing, mechanical, fire protection and other components down to the finishes. These drawings including detailed site plans, floor plans, individual residential unit plans, sections and elevations.
  • Under direct supervision of the Deputy Chief Architect, review revisions and issue deficiency comments in compliance with NYCRR Title, within the given timeframe.
  • Review submitted drawings (approved by the authority having jurisdiction) exhibits, identify, report and discuss any unusual and non-code compliant conditions with the Deputy Chief Architect.
  • Initiate discussions with both Review Attorney and Deputy Chief Architect for concerning or unusual issues discovered from reviewing the reports and drawings. Follow directions and advice from Review Attorneys for those concerning or unusual matters discussed with Review Attorney, who is responsible for the overall review for that assigned Offering Plan.
  • Participate in group discussions related to the review process with the legal, architectural, and engineering staff.
