Unit Director - 4A/B - Med Surg Tele - DH

Arnot Health is currently seeking qualified candidates for a Director position on 4A/B Medical/Surgical/Telemetry Unit at Arnot Ogden Medical Center. This is an exciting opportunity in a busy team environment as the individual is responsible for facilitating an atmosphere of interactive management and the development of collegial relationships among nursing personnel and others.

The Arnot Health System is a not-for-profit organization comprised of three hospitals, The Arnot Ogden Medical Center and St. Joseph's Hospital, both located in Elmira, New York and Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital located in Bath, New York. The Arnot Ogden Medical Center, founded in 1888, is a 256-bed tertiary medical facility offering specialty services including, cardiovascular care, cancer care, women's health services, emergency medicine and surgical services.

The 4A/B Unit, on the Arnot Ogden Medical Center campus, consists of 32 beds. The units care for patients with chest pain, acute MI, syncope, heart failure and arrhythmias. The population includes patients with pacemakers, ICDs, post heart catheters, post PCI. The unit also includes any medical-surgical patients that require telemetry monitoring. Some patients are placed in observation awaiting testing. The 4A/B Unit includes 40.5 FTEs which include registered nurses, clinical assistants and unit clerks.

Our ideal candidate will possess exceptional interpersonal skills, critical thinking and time management skills. The successful candidate will assume twenty-four hour responsibility for the management of all non-provider staff and workers closely in a Dyad leadership model with the Medical Director. They will also be responsible for the identification and communication of resources needed for the success of the department in meeting established goals.

Education Requirements: Current NYS nursing licensure and Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Master's Degree preferred. Applicant must possess prior proven experience and expertise in clinical area relevant to patient population (minimum of five years clinical experience). Candidate must also possess excellent communication skills and writing ability. BLS is required.

EXPERIENCE:
Prior proven experience and expertise in clinical area relevant to patient population (minimum 5 years clinical experience).

CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION (CPR) REQUIREMENTS:
Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire date. Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required in critical care units.
