Top 3 things the HM looks for:
  • Know that they will be easily trusted by the team and the team needs to feel supported
  • Understanding Scrum frame work and working through what they currently have and drive it even though the settings are not ideal
  • Process Improvement Mindset Standouts – HM wants to see "we” or "team” not "I" in resume, to show that it was a team effort; Showing that you are a servant leader.
 
Additional Notes:
  • 3-5 years of Scrum Master experience is what they are looking for, would consider someone that has played scrum master, however has not had the title
  • Disqualifiers - Can't work with check the box type of scrum masters and need someone to think outside the box
  • Team Culture – Waterfall space will be trying to embrace the agile principles, people are excited but it is transitional, lots of young faces have been joining the team
  • Typical day – Team tries to run the scrum master duties as they are described, although it is not there yet, so this person will be working to improve this as well
  • Current team 7 – Project Managers and Scrum Masters
  • The candidate will be very involved in typical duties and then take the lead
  • Financial services experience is not required
  • Phone screen with HM, then in person with team

Details: Our client, a national financial leader, is looking for a Scrum Master for a team that is responsible for delivering multiple upcoming New Business initiatives. For this role, you understand scrum methodology and how it applies to leading teams to deliver commitments with quality and within target dates.

MUST HAVE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
  • Agile Scrum Master experience
  • Experience working on website related projects/products
  • Experience working on projects with a big technology partner
  • Brokerage/Trading or website security experience

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to form relationships and partnerships to drive results without authority

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage product centric website teams using an Agile management discipline.
  • Lead collaborative charter and story map sessions to determine product scope and priorities.
  • Manage deadlines and deliverables with internal business partners, as well as Technology PM and Compliance partners.
  • Act as a liaison between all agile team members, including Product Owners, Site Experience and Site Implementation teams.
  • Communicate regular status updates to product owners and key stakeholders.
  • Facilitate regular team meetings to manage schedule, obtain updates, discuss issues and resolve problems within the project.
  • Proactively and effectively manage all key project documentation.
  • Lead change management communication and resolution.
  • Work with PMO on forecasting, record keeping, and cross commit needs.
  • Work with internal teams to ensure delivery of progressive business value including successful completion of QA and post launch activities.
