Top Tower Hand – Technician

Client is currently looking for a Top Tower Hand – Tech III to join our team in Madison, Wisconsin; local candidates preferred. The Top Tower Hand will perform and lead tower construction and maintenance activities. This work includes but it not limited to tower assembly, tower erections, installing antennas, testing equipment feedlines, mounting hardware, install equipment feedlines, grounding, system testing, positioning and optimizing antennas. Ability to climb in excess of 100 feet on a daily basis. They will adhere to OSHA, NATE, Customer, and industry wireless standards and quality.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure work is performed in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Climb tower site to conduct repair
  • Technical support when necessary
  • Generate punch list and resolution during the course of normal project schedules
  • Operation and adjustment of commonly used tools in the wireless industry efficiently
  • Frequent perform of duties in outside weather conditions w/occasional exposure to inclement weather
  • Knowledgeable of sector/antenna configurations with respect to jumper and coax routing, RET settings and cabling
  • Work at high elevations on a daily basis
  • Actively participating as a member of a team to accomplish the tasks assigned
  • The ability to maintain a desired level of quality in work assigned, especially attention to final details
  • Assist Crew Leader in daily preparation of job tasks and execute Crew Leaders construction plan

Education, Certification, and/or Training
  • High School diploma or GED Equivalent
  • 3+ year of experience climbing and working on towers
  • Experience with GSM, Cat 5e, and LTE systems
  • Experience with installation, testing, maintaining, and troubleshooting network systems
  • Experience testing and working with Fiber
  • Experience with PIM and/or Sweep Gear
  • Must be to pass a drug and background check
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record that classifies you as insurable
  • Experience with and the ability to climb various tower types more than 100+ feet, with a 50 lbs load
  • OSHA Safety standards certification is preferred (will provide training)
  • Comtrain or Fall Rescue certification preferred (will provide training)

  • Ideal candidate is local the Madison, WI Area
  • Able to crouch, kneel, and twist throughout the work day
  • Able to reach, grasp, and climb with both hands
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and drive or ride in truck for long periods
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Flexible to work shift work to include maintenance window and weekends if needed
  • Must be available for periodic travel, including overnights
