Telecom Technician
Summary
  • Lead and manage a group of 2-3 crew members and mentor junior team members
  • Ensure work is performed in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Climb tower site to conduct repairs
  • Technical support when necessary
  • Evaluate job site for safety hazards and develop plan to mitigate safety issues
  • Fully test and install communications system in accordance with customer specifications
  • Monitor and maintain construction schedules as developed by General Manager
  • Generate punch list and resolution during the course of normal project schedules
  • Operation and adjustment of commonly used tools in the wireless industry efficiently
  • Knowledgeable of sector/antenna configurations with respect to jumper and coax routing, RET settings and cabling
  • Work at high elevations on a daily basis
  • Setting high standards of performance for self and crew; assuming responsibility and accountability for successfully completing assigned tasks.
  • Submitting daily site status updates to direct supervisors
  • Submitting required site closeout documents
  • Frequent perform of duties in outside weather conditions w/occasional exposure to inclement weather
Education, Certification, and/or Training
  • High School diploma or GED Equivalent
  • 5+ year of experience climbing and working on towers
  • Experience with GSM, Cat 5e, and LTE systems
  • Experience with installation, testing, maintaining, and troubleshooting network systems
  • Experience testing and working with Fiber
  • Experience with PIM and/or Sweep Gear
  • Must be to pass a drug and background check
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record that classifies you as insurable
  • Experience with and the ability to climb various tower types more than 100+ feet, with a 50 lbs load
  • OSHA Safety standards certification is preferred (will provide training)
  • Comtrain or Fall Rescue certification preferred (will provide training)

Required Skills and Abilities
  • Ideal candidate is local the Madison, WI Area
  • Able to crouch, kneel, and twist throughout the work day
  • Able to reach, grasp, and climb with both hands
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and drive or ride in truck for long periods
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Flexible to work shift work to include maintenance window and weekends if needed
  • Must be available for periodic travel, including overnights
