Laboratory Technician - Microbiology

Location: Houston, Texas
The position will work M-F, 7am to 3:30pm until trained. Then they will work either Tuesday-Saturday with Saturday being a half day or Sunday-Thursday with Sunday being a half day. They would work 9 hour days except Saturday and Sunday, typically 7am to 4:30pm.

The purpose of this position is to ensure that Quality activities are performed according to the established procedures and conform to applicable regulatory and industry standards and codes.

This position will be responsible for:
• Performing environmental sampling of controlled environments as directed by manufacturing schedules within standard times and according to established procedures.
• Recording test data according to established procedures compliant with cGMP and FDA guidelines.
• Testing and inspecting of products at various stages of production and compiling and evaluating data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products.
• Set up, incubate, read and record results from microbial and environmental testing.
• Assist in the organization and housekeeping of the Quality Control Laboratories.
• Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of quality related equipment and ordering of laboratory supplies and materials.
• Other tasks as required.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

BS/BA degree preferably in a natural science required. May substitute 2 years of directly applicable experience for 1 year of education.
Must also be able to work weekends and public holidays as required.
Prefer experience performing environmental monitoring.
Strong user of Microsoft applications, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Prefer experience in a GMP regulated environment.
Prefer experience in an aseptic manufacturing environment.
Be able to move/lift 50 lbs
