Sr. Architect/Designer

• Performs a variety of assignments such as conducting architectural studies, developing design concepts and design criteria, and preparing related reports.
• Reviews CAD drawings, renderings, layouts, study models, construction documents, and color boards prepared by Architectural Designers. Provide updates to space planning and Design Intent Drawings. Ensures compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
• Provides technical consultations for interdisciplinary analytical studies and analyses.
• Writes construction specifications and prepares detailed requisitions for equipment and materials. Interfaces with suppliers as required.
• Reviews supplier drawings and samples, and performs technical bid analyses.
• Coordinates work with engineering and construction units at project site. Reviews, approves, and issues detailed design and construction drawings and specifications prepared by others. Determines occupancy loads.
• Provides the seal and signature of a professional architect when required by statute or contract.
• Provides technical guidance to lower-level Architects and Architectural Designer/Drafters working on the same project.
• Keeps abreast of current technologies via technical subscriptions and attendance at conferences.
• Prepares staffing estimates and execution plans.
• Chairs weekly job meetings; prepares and submits summary of project progress and pending issues to Project Manager.
• Assists Project Manager in pricing and negotiating changes to the scope of work with the client and subcontractors. Reviews bid documents and assists with bidder solicitation activities. Documents and executes changes in scope of project.
• Anticipates problems and works with client, architects/engineers, subcontractors, and Project Manager to identify and implement corrective actions.
• Keeps client and Project Manager informed of the day-to-day activities of the project.
• Maintains accurate documentation of job progress through weekly and monthly reports.
• Develop and revise project work plans.
• Conduct periodic inspections of the construction sites as needed. Travel is anticipated to be minimal.
• Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
• The individual needs a degree and 7 plus years of experience.
