Job description
  • This is a hands-on chemistry position.
  • The incumbent will be a Bench Chemist, performing chemical synthesis, analysis and structural assignments using spectroscopic techniques such as HPLC, LC-MS, UV, and NMR, and purification of organic compounds by flash column chromatography or on HPLC.
  • As an additional responsibility, the incumbent will manage database compounds inventory, including registration of new compounds, submission of compounds for biological testing, and arrangement of compounds shipment
  • Organize and prioritize workload to meet timelines. Communicate results, ideas and proposals informally and at meetings
  • Work collaboratively within a dynamic team environment to achieve project goals.

  • A Bachelor degree in chemistry with 3-6 years of chemical synthesis experience or a Master degree in organic chemistry with 1-3 years of experience in pharmaceutical/biotech industry is required
  • Working knowledge of common spectroscopic techniques such as NMR, IR, UV, and MS as well as prior experience in use of HPLC and LC-MS is required
  • Familiarity with chemistry software such as ChemDraw and SciFinder and/or Reaxys is necessary. Prior experience in use of chemistry database is preferred
  • Good oral and written communication skills are required
  • The incumbent is expected to be well organized and detail oriented
  • Experience in synthesis of nucleosides and nucleotides is preferred, but not required.
