Supplier Quality Engineer

Supplier Quality Engineer II
This position is responsible for the management of suppliers pertaining to but not limited to transducer, electromechanical components, and subassemblies and final assemblies to support the manufacturing processes.
The position will provide quality assurance, technical and compliance expertise through the qualification of new suppliers, components and subassemblies, the development and execution of test methods, the risk management and resolution of issues, and the improvements of processes.
Role & Supplier Management Activities:
  • Support the supplier onboarding process through the qualification of new suppliers and components
  • Drive quality improvement efforts with suppliers through the Product Improvement Process
  • Perform audits of new and qualified suppliers as required
  • Develop and maintain incoming inspection plans for components and subassemblies
  • Resolve component quality issues through the material review board, corrective actions, and supplier corrective actions
  • Manage the request for change notifications and deviations from suppliers of components and subassemblies
  • Develop, maintain, and provide performance metrics of components and subassemblies to suppliers
  • Support and drive supply chain risk mitigation efforts related to suppliers, components and subassemblies
  • Support and drive cost saving efforts related to components and subassemblies
Product Development Activities:
  • Provide support to the technology development project teams evaluating new technologies or components
  • Provide support to the product development project teams to help meet the project goals
    • Attend and actively participate in core meetings and gate reviews
    • Drive design and process changes to increase the quality and reliability of components and subassemblies
    • Evaluate and qualify new components and subassemblies
    • Perform and manage risk assessment activities
    • Resolve issues encountered during the development of a product
  • Support the transferring of the new suppliers, component or subassembly to production
  • Support and drive cost saving efforts related to processes, components and subassemblies
Manufacturing Support Activities:
  • Provide quality and technical support to manufacturing facilities for issues related to components and subassemblies
  • Drive quality improvement efforts with the manufacturing teams through the Product Improvement Process
  • Support manufacturing with failure analysis and corrective action implementation related to components and subassemblies
  • Develop, maintain, and provide performance metrics of components and subassemblies to manufacturing teams
  • Support the investigations of customer complaints related to components and subassemblies
  • Support and drive cost saving efforts related to processes, components and subassemblies
Performance Metrics:
  • Complete deliverables to onboard new suppliers Annually
  • Complete audit reports on time (<12 days) Annually
  • Resolve PIP items in a timely manner Annually
  • Complete a quality activity summary annually
  • Complete evaluations/qualifications per the project schedule Annually
  • Present KPI results to suppliers monthly Annually
  • Complete work requests on time (<30 days) Annually
  • Disposition MRB material on time (<30 days) Annually
  • Complete CARs per the product quality council Annually
  • Reduce directly/indirectly the total return rates for standard & custom products Annually
  • Realize cost savings through improvement opportunities Annually
Education & Job Requirements
Education:
  • 4-year Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
Job Experience:
  • Supplier Quality Engineer – Transducers Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality engineering that includes supplier and/or contract manufacturer management, new product introduction
  • Moderate knowledge and application of technical principles, theories, and concepts
  • Moderate knowledge and understanding of good manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical test methods
  • Knowledge of reliability testing and failure analysis desired
  • Moderate understanding of quality systems
  • Moderate understanding of medical device quality systems standards and regulations (ISO 13485, 21 CFR Part 820)
  • Moderate understanding of the audit process including planning, execution, reporting and follow-up
  • Demonstrated knowledge of DMAIC problem solving process, process capability, measurement system analysis, DOE, SPC and other quality tools
  • ASQ certification, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt or Certified Quality Engineer desired

Responsibilities
