Switchboard Operator

Job Description: Position Summary: Provide excellent telephonic customer service to every call that enters the Company's main switchboard by using: proper telephone etiquette, strong voice quality, and clear articulation. Provide receptionist and light clerical duties as needed.
Essential Job Functions:
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with, or without, reasonable accommodations.
  • Operating the Company's main switchboard by understanding all the switchboard functions, and by using the Company telephone directory via ShoreTel.
  • Handle calls from emotionally distraught people with professionalism and compassion.
  • Handle calls from troubled or dissatisfied customers who may not act rationally.
  • Perform Receptionist duties for walk-in traffic with warm and friendly service.
  • Handle outside vendors who may at times be difficult to work with.
  • Sort and distribute incoming and outgoing mail as needed.
  • Emphasize warm and friendly customer service in all department interactions with visitors.
  • Project a favorable image of the Company to promote its' goals, and to enhance public recognition and acceptance of all its efforts.
  • Adhere to Company policies, procedures, rules, and controls.
  • Act on customer complaints to provide satisfactory resolution.
  • Additional Details: Three years' experience in a high-volume telecommunications center
  • High School Diploma, or GED
