Scrum Master / Project Manager

Job Summary

Reporting into the TRS Program Management Office (PMO) and based in Irvine, the Scrum Master will lead the implementation of Agile within the Software Engineering teams. He or she will improve the Scrum Maturity of the teams, and coach the teams
to higher levels of maturity at a sustainable pace. Facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution. Own the outputs: burn down charts, retrospectives, etc. Track and publish velocity and costs; make increasingly accurate velocity and cost projections. Train developers, QA professionals, product owners, and project managers in the Scrum process. Serve as the Organizations authority in the Scrum process. Evangelize and educate Scrum throughout the organization.

Job Responsibilities:
• -- Organize and Facilitate effective team meetings: stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives and demos
• -- Work with the Product Owner and the project team to develop and manage a Product Backlog.
• -- Track and communicate team velocity, burndown, and sprint/release progress
• -- Liaise between the stakeholders and the project team to ensure user stories/acceptance criteria is clearly defined and understood.
• -- Develop a project plan using standard project management tools, i.e. MS Project / Server

• -- Manage product scope and control scope creep during the development sprints.
• -- Strong conceptual grasp of the technology; knowledge of client/server architecture, object oriented design/development.
• -- Develop and implement communication plans
• -- Uncover and remove team impediments that prevent the team from achieving their shared goal.
• -- Report project progress to project sponsors and executive management
• -- Knowledge transfer and project postmortem for lessons learned and improving best practices
• -- Provide leadership to the project team and partner with QA, technology and business stakeholders
• -- Maintain process documentation
• -- Work with the project team to provide estimates, manage and mitigate project and team risks.
• -- In depth knowledge of one or more Agile frameworks, preferably from Scrum, Kanban, and Lean startup.
• -- Experience with iterative development methodologies and continuous delivery practices
• -- Partnering with Product Owner and coaching the technical team to ensure they have a thorough understanding of Agile/Scrum
• -- Coach and mentor internal teams on how to move towards Agile
• -- Effective in motivating teams and guiding them through impediments and/or conflict excellent business presentation and facilitation skills, including Agile retrospectives.
• -- Program/Project Scoping, Sizing, Forecasting, Planning and Scheduling
• --10+ years of software development experience
• -- 3+ years in earlier roles in Scrum-based software shops
• -- Prior project management experience is helpful
• -- Prior experience using a Jira, i.e. tracking plan & actual statistics from inception through implementation would be helpful
• -- Organized and strong attention to detail
• -- Strong written and oral communication skills
• -- Agile project experience.
• -- Assertive – must be able to ensure Agile/Scrum concepts and principles are adhered to, must be able to be a voice of reason and authority, make the tough calls
• --Proven success establishing credibility and rapport with other members of technical team
• --Ability to work under pressure while coordinating multiple projects at a time
• Situationally Aware – Must be the first to notice differences and issues as they arise and elevate them to management
• Bachelor's Degree in computer science preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) strongly preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Project Management Certification or PMP (PMI) helpful or equivalent combination of education and experience
