  • The Charge Master Specialist is responsible for the design, build, testing, implementation and maintenance of the Charge Description Master (CDM) module within the Epic Resolute Hospital Billing application.
  • The Charge Master Specialist works with the CDM Manager to develop system-wide CDM related standardization and workflows, provides input into policy and procedures, and contributes to all implementation and upgrade activities.
  • The Charge Master Specialist must be knowledgeable in the technical and functional aspects of the Epic Resolute Hospital Billing application as they apply to the CDM module.
  • The Charge Master Specialist must also be very knowledgeable about AMA CPT and HCPCS coding regulations set forth by Medicare and other government entities. Other duties as assigned.
Major Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the build, testing, implementation and maintenance of the Charge Description Master (CDM) module within the Epic Resolute Hospital Billing application.
  • Works with CDM Manager to develop system-wide CDM integration and standardization between hospital CDM master files.
  • Works with department managers regarding charge structure development and compliance needs.
  • Implements additions, deletions and revisions to comply with department manager requests and to ensure billing integrity.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid billing regulation and requirements for other government and contracted payers.
  • Review current process flows and make recommendations for enhancements.
  • Establish change management process for the system as they relate to CDM maintenance.
  • Analyze functionality in new releases and determine how it should be used.
  • Work with new release coordinators to test upgrades and releases.
  • Work with project leadership to assess appropriate implementation strategies and the impact those strategies will have on CDM maintenance workflow.
  • Responsible for timely updates to project leadership regarding timeline and status of assigned tasks.
  • Participate in project meetings as appropriate.
  • Acts as liaison between the CDM build team, operational stakeholders, Epic technical resources, and the Charge Process Team related to build decisions.
  • Works with enterprise build and technical leads regarding interface, content and reporting needs and development.
  • Responsible to write CDM build and maintenance procedures and documentation.
  • Participates in training and problem identification/resolution with end users.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in hospital or healthcare revenue cycle is required. Experience in application/module build and maintenance is required.  CDM build/maintenance experience is preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field is required. 
  • Knowledgeable (technically and functionally) in the Epic Resolute Hospital Charge Capture and CDM module.
  • Demonstrated module design and implementation skills.
  • Strong process design and improvement experience.
  • Ability to lead meetings, prioritize, resolve conflicts and maintain issues lists.
  • Effective oral and written communication.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Access capabilities.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented with ability to research needs for system build and maintenance.
