FIRE PROTECTION ENGINEER II

Parsons is now hiring a Fire Protection Engineer to be part of our Federal Business Unit located in our Pasadena, California office. We are looking for a strong Fire Protection Engineer (FPE) to join our Team for several major clients including JPL/NASA, FAA, DOE, and DOD. If some US travel is appealing to you and you want to be working directly with clients, and not stuck in a cubicle somewhere – this is a great opportunity for you!
We like engineers with formal fire protection training who have a broad experience in fire protection design, upgrades and facilities fire protection optimization. Our engineers design unique and challenging projects, and perform facilities assessments to make expert recommendations to clients for improvements and optimization. FPEs who have interest and experience in fire protection system design for industrial facilities, clean rooms, data centers, manufacturing, testing and research laboratories would be successful in this role.

REQUIREMENTS:

Must have 5 to 8 years of experience in fire protection design with an emphasis on fire and life safety and fire protection systems.

Summary of Responsibilities:
• Design of new or modification/expansion of built facilities
• Engineering studies, design, and calculations
• Building and Fire Code analysis and basis for design
• Fire Hazard and Fire Protection Assessments
• Developing standards
• Preparing plans and details
• Writing specifications
• Auditing and inspecting facilities
• Tracking change orders
• Overseeing project implementation

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have a Degree in Fire Protection Engineering.
• Must have a Professional Registration in Fire Protection Engineering
• Must have a proficiency in Computer Aided Design (AutoCAD, Revit, Microstation, or other related software packages, as well as those associated with fire protection engineering work and sprinkler analysis programs.
• Experience with the following would be ideal: Clean agent design, foam system design, water mist design in addition to traditional water based fire systems design.
