Laboratory Technician

  • This laboratory based position. The temp hired will execute and report on the safety and efficacy of medical devices while conducting clinical testing on those products
  • The temp will possess the technical competence in clinical laboratory disciplines primarily Point of Care testing as well the core lab environment i.e. chemistry, hematology, coagulation and operation of multiple instrument platforms
  • Responsible for understanding product function and applying quality and regulatory standards
  • Utilizes technical/scientific judgment to resolve technical issues
  • Works collaboratively with the rest of the laboratory staff in a safe and efficient way
  • This temporary associate should hold a BS in Biology or Medical Technology or Biotechnology with a minimum of 3 years of laboratory experience.
  • Under the supervision of the Engineering Lab Manager, the laboratory technician will independently plan and perform experiments that support new product or technology feasibility testing, which may include developing new methodologies or conducting routine procedures
  • Assist in the planning and analyzing of experiments and reporting the results to project leadership via data forms, oral presentation or technical reports
  • Serve as a technical expert on laboratory instrumentation, including, but not limited to, robotic workstations, automated analysis instrumentation, and general laboratory equipment
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment as necessary to support scientific and technical objectives as well as meet regulatory and governance requirements
  • Maintain good laboratory practices (GLP) and support intellectual property strategy by documenting data and independent, unique and patentable ideas by maintaining an R&D Laboratory Notebook
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Sample collection, set-up and performance (or shipment to third party vendor) for all required testing
  • Interacts with production personnel to insure product sample collection and review of processing problems
  • Maintains accurate and current records of all results and procedures
  • Assists Development Technologists in miscellaneous laboratory procedures and projects as required.
