Senior Buyer

The Sr. Buyer is responsible for procuring supplies at the optimum balance of price, quality and service to satisfy business requirements. This position focuses on purchasing for the inpatient and outpatient clinical areas. The role will work on implementing purchasing strategies, price negotiation, administration of purchasing contracts, and line item pricing for departments and commodity groups.
  • Position Details:
    • Direct Hire
    • Guaranteed Hours Per Week: 40 hours per week
    • Primary Location:  Pewaukee, WI
    • Shift Requirements: Monday through Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm, no weekends and no holidays
  • Key Activities:
    • Develop and manage purchasing contracts and line item pricing for departments and commodity groups.
    • Manage cost controls and sourcing risks for departments and commodity groups.
    • Develop and implement cost savings projects.
    • Support eCommerce, VHA - Novation, VHA- UMCSC, and other purchasing resources for departments and commodity groups.
    • Understand all components of purchasing contract terms and conditions, pricing, and other procurement requirements for departments and commodity groups.
    • Actively participate in cross-functional, value analysis teams, for the purposes of developing specifications that meet or exceed the requirements of intended use, safety, training, and cost performance goals of the departments and commodity groups.
    • Continuously seek out cost reduction and/or standardization opportunities through the development of business case alternatives and financial analyses to demonstrate the costs and benefits of supplier and/or product decisions.
  • Qualifications:
    • High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree or BSN preferred.
    • At least 6 years, with 8 or more preferred, of related purchasing experience. Will consider RN clinical experience in lieu of purchasing.
    • Specialized expertise in purchase contracting, value analysis and vendor management required.
    • Previous experience purchasing for inpatient and/or outpatient clinical areas strongly preferred.
