Basic Function:
Manages and provides drafting and design support to the engineering department by assuming full drafting responsibility for assigned projects.

Responsibilities and Duties:
The position will require independent research to resolve problems with engineering, marketing, manufacturing and vendors.
  • Prepares layouts of subassemblies or portions of projects that require a high degree of precision and expertise from engineering data:
    • Sheet metal enclosure drawings
    • Electrical Control Panel layouts
    • Unit wiring diagrams
    • Device wiring details
  • Proficient with 2D software, preferably AutoCAD, to develop wiring schematics
  • Proficient with 3D software; preferably Creo and Pro Cabling, to develop enclosures and unit cabling models.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel to prepare Bill of Material (BOM).
  • Understanding of SAP or other Material Resource Planning software to investigate existing material and BOMs.
  • Prepare order edit data for manuals.
  • Check work of others that is similar in type and complexity to that which is personally performed.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of drafting room procedures such as retrieving and apply information from engineering standards, purchasing and manufacturing specifications for preparation, release and revision of drawings.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and use of engineering and commercial standards for design application and conformance as related to job.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Exercises leadership by sharing technical and practical knowledge with less experienced team members.

Education & Experience:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required.
  • Technical/Associate Degree is required with 5 years experience in a related field.
  • Experience with Pro/Engineer/Creo Cabling and AutoCAD Electrical
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Knowledge of electrical components such as contactors, fuses, transformer, etc
Description:
Must be proficient in AutoCAD (version 2014 or higher).
Must be proficient using Windows based software and MS office 2000 or higher (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.). Must have strong organizational skills.
Someone with a little bit of experience in the construction field.
More along with electrical or mechanical construction, not electronic board layouts.
Someone that has been in the business world, not from academia running drafting clubs as a significant part of their resume.

High school or equivalent education required.
Resumes need to be well constructed, accurate, spell checked, etc. which shows attention to detail with the desire to do a good job. It shows that the candidates care about what they put their name on.
Receive project assignments from Design Team member.
Under supervision, prepare construction drawings required to support the installation of electronic special systems (fire alarm, security, access control, and other low voltage specialty systems)
Electronic systems drawings will typically consist of items such as floor plan layouts, riser diagrams, electrical interconnections drawings and installation terminations.
Prepare submittal documentation (i.e.,. data sheets, battery calculations)
Maintain project drawing files, and associated records and documentation tracking & maintaining as-built drawings
Perform other duties as assigned.
