A large well established law firm with offices in the Greater Stamford area is seeking a paralegal for their Trust and Estates division.
The Trusts & Estates Paralegal will assist attorneys in preparing probate cases. He or she must have the ability to work in an organized, efficient manner, and be willing to support the department with general administrative duties and special projects as needed. Candidate should also be flexible to work overtime as needed.
Duties & Responsibilities
Some of the required duties will be to complete the preparation of Wills, Trusts and other estate planning forms as directed by attorneys; organize assets; coordinate trust funding; prepare real property deeds and related documents; marshal assets; organize and index documents; assist in the preparation of federal estate and gift tax returns; prepare fiduciary accountings; and prepare and file probate forms. Prepare petitions for probate, trust-related documents, pleadings and declarations with applicable courts.

He or she must be a self-starter who can work well under minimal supervision as well as take a proactive approach to being team oriented. The ideal candidate will have exemplary organizational skills, attention to detail, strong client service skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work well under pressure, multi-task and set priorities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications & Prior Experience
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree and paralegal certification. Experience with CT and NY estate and probate laws is required. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience and be able to handle all aspects of estate planning and trust administration. Proficiency with Windows-based software and Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook are required. Experience with FPS , accounting software, and ProSystems is a plus.
