 APPLICATION ENGINEER/MECHANICAL ENGINEER

A local and leading provider of pipeline equipment and products throughout the United States and around the world is seeking an experienced Application Engineer. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Preparation of detailed technical/commercial proposals for fabricated permanent basket strainers and other pipeline equipment to major industrial clients in the Oil & Gas, Refining and Petrochemical industries.
  • Product/equipment selection
  • Coordinating/developing cost estimates
  • Technical consultation to clients
  • Participation in engineering designs that are suitable for our business model
  • Review and interpret engineering data, customer specifications, including Industry codes and specifications to select the most effective solutions
  • Design equipment to be offered and/or select from existing standard designs for new specific applications
  • Ensure product design is within the scope of company guidelines, by performing engineering calculations to size product/equipment accordingly, using company programs and DesignCalcs (ASME Calculations)
  • Prepare and submit bid packages including proposal, and/or preliminary drawing, data sheet, technical feedback and any other required documents
  • Review customer purchase order for compliance with quoted proposal, organize bid package and outline special requirements to ensure all customer requirements are met and understood by the organization
  • Coordinate with order entry, designers, purchasing, manufacturing and QC, with kick-off meetings, reviewing approval/fabrication drawings, scope changes and technical questions to ensure customer requirements are communicated and captured
  • Manage all aspects of the application, design, and engineering of customer specific fabricated strainers: creating and maintaining tools and supporting documentation
  • May be responsible for project management duties from sales through shipment
Education/Experience:
  • B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related engineering discipline and/or equivalent combination of education and experience will be consider. 3-5 years of industrial experience preferred
  • Strong background in pressure vessel and hydraulic design; experience with API and ASME Code knowledge preferred (ASME Sec. VIII, B31.3, B31.4, B31.8)
  • Familiarity with pressure vessel fabrication and welding, pipeline equipment and instrumentation
  • Previous experience in design/sales of pressure vessel design and related pipeline equipment is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and computer skills
  • Must excel in project planning, time management, and organizational skills, focused on oral and written communication with a customer service background
  • Ability to succeed in a collaborative environment, concurrently balancing multiple priorities
