Nesco Resource has a new direct hire opportunity for a Human Resource Manager for a manufacturer in the Albany area.

Reporting to the President of the company, the HR Manager will have responsibility for all human resource functions for approximately 100 employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Regularly review company records, documents and policies to ensure legal compliance. Research, prepare and update company handbooks, procedures and policies.
  • Provide resource training for supervisors and managers on various topics such as hiring; sexual harassment; progressive discipline; legal compliance, etc.
  • Conduct recruitment effort for all exempt, nonexempt and temporary workers; writes and places advertisements, works with supervisors to screen and interview candidates; conducts reference checking, coordinates background and drug screens; extends job offers; conducts new employee onboarding and safety awareness orientations.
  • Coordinate benefits, review insurance options, open enrollment, and communications with insurance broker. Assist employees with instructions on how to enroll and make changes in HRIS system.
  • Maintain competitive wage structure through compensation surveys, position descriptions, job evaluation and similar. Manage the annual performance appraisal process, rewrite job descriptions as necessary and assist in developing merit pool, monitors the performance evaluation program and revises as necessary.
  • Prepare employee separation notices and related documentation, and conduct exit interviews to determine reasons for separations.
  • Coordinate and track FMLA , PFL, disability and workers comp claims and related paperwork
  • Act as the EEO Coordinator. Maintain Affirmative Action plan and required applicant tracking logs and goals, file annual reports. Make recommendations to management regarding the attainment of EEO goals and conduct EEO training for supervisory staff.
  • Plan and coordinate company communication meetings, employee gifts and gatherings, including summer and holiday parties.
Educational Requirements/Qualifications/experience
  • BS in Human Resource Management, Communications or related discipline preferred
  • 5 years of progressively responsible Human Resource experience in a manufacturing organization preferred
  • Strong generalist skills required
  • Excellent organizational abilities
  • Adaptability to changing demands
  • Excellent verbal and written Communications
  • Senior Professional in Human Resource Management (SPHR) certification preferred
