Employee Communications Track:
Plans, develops and implements innovative and engaging employee communication materials that encourage staff employee curiosity and discussions about our business, and help improve engagement, performance, recruitment, and retention.

Marketing Communications Track:
Plans, develops and implements innovative and engaging materials to help grow Battelles business lines to support sales and business development efforts.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Builds trust and credibility as a communications professional, providing business partners and executives with sound advice and effective internal communications strategies in alignment with corporate and business unit goals.
  • Develops relationships and sources throughout Battelle and across domains of expertise.
  • Plans and assists communications support for major internal corporate meetings and events, as necessary.
  • Produces videos, print materials, and electronic communications to improve employee engagement and retention.
  • Assists in the planning, development, and implementation of communication strategies for external audiences that tell the story of the client including scientific and technological achievements, market/competitive position, our history, and community impact.
  • Researches, writes, edits, and coordinates delivery of communications tactics including news stories, articles, speeches, presentations, talking points, videos, external web content, printed publications, broadcasts, external social media through the appropriate communications channels. Develops brand-appropriate content that provides the necessary levels of context, clarity, consistency, tone, and voice that link to strategic priorities.
  • Works closely with other Communications team members, Business Development/Sales, Legal, Human Resource and other groups within to ensure alignment of our external messages, manage interdependencies, evaluate issues and risks, consider the impact on all audiences and safeguard the companys brand and reputation.
  • As a contributing member to the overall Marketing and Communications team, may support other areas, needs and duties as assigned including Internal Communications, Media Relations, and Special Events.

Accountability: Position Requirements:
  • Requires a Bachelors degree in Communications, Public Relations, English or Marketing.
  • Must have five years of experience in a similar position.
  • Requires excellent written and verbal communications skills, polished interpersonal skills and grammatical and rhetorical skills and be familiarity with a broad range of communication channels, techniques, and styles.
  • Must be able to counsel and advice peers and business partners, manage projects, work well under pressure, and work with various personalities as part of a larger team.
