Position Summary
Experienced engineer who supports or leads projects related to the design, construction, and inspection of tower modifications with a key focus on balancing cost, quality and speed.
Essential Job Functions
  • Perform quality assurance reviews of external vendor's modification designs.
  • Work with internal and external engineers and contractors to identify, research and implement best practices relating to the design and construction of tower modifications.
  • Assist or manage construction engineering projects as assigned.
  • Preform design and construction activity studies.
  • Provide support for field related construction issues.
  • Develop standards, scopes of work, and technical directives.
  • Participate in development of construction engineering related processes, standards, tools and programs.
  • Develop training presentations and conduct training sessions as needed.
  • Lead small to moderate sized projects.
  • Participate in site specific or large projects as Construction Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME).
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, specializing in structures, or equivalent degree
  • Fundamentals of Engineering Exam – EIT Designation
  • Professional licensure (PE) preferred
Experience/Minimum Requirements
  • Five (5) years' experience (or two (2) years along with a Master's Degree in Civil Engineering) in performing structure analysis/design on a variety of communication towers strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of codes and standards related to telecom structures
  • Experience or knowledge in tower/reinforcement erection and/or knowledge of tower constrution equipment and practices
Other Skills/Abilities
  • Experience using structural analysis software (tnx Tower preferred)
  • Experieince using MS Excel and other general purposes software for engineering calculations
  • Experience leading small to moderate size projects
  • Understanding of structural load paths
  • Knowledge of botled and welded connection design
  • Knowledge of tower hardware and components
  • Experience or knowledge of steel shop fabrication processes and/or knowledge of fabrication shop tools and capabilites
  • Detail oriented and self-motivated
  • Good written and oral communcation skills
  • Experience in customer relations andcommunications
