Summary
SolidWorks/Solid Edge Detailer
Must have Machine build experiences with Solidworks/SolidEdge software expreience. Prepare detailed drawings and schematics for the design of new products, components and systems. Complete drawing checks for other detailers, assuring accuracy. It is important that they understand how to draw complete machines/systems.
  • Performs complex tasks that require the use of drawing techniques and engineering computations.
  • Person should be organized, detail oriented, have a mechanical aptitude as well as the ability to understand mechanical concepts, have good communication skills, work well on a team and enjoy dealing with all types of people. Ultimate responsibility will be to perform tasks that maximize the effectiveness of the engineering/production departments. 
 
Essential Functions:

  • Ultimate responsibility will be to perform tasks that maximize the effectiveness of the engineering/production departments.    
  • Create drawings from models in SolidWorks or Solid Edge depending on what program the job was started in.
  • Manage drawing revisions and the master copy
  • Prepare detailed drawings and schematics for the design of new products, components and systems.
  • Complete drawing checks for other detailers, assuring accuracy.
  • Supports R&D in the design of new products as well as providing drawing support needed for purchasing, project management, product development, assembly/test, assisting sales drawings, etc.
  • Maintenance of a design log, engineering change/problem log and other quality control measures will be a responsibility as well. 
  • Must work with outside engineering firms and vendors as necessary to assure all customer requirements are met.
  • Work in partnership with our assembly team to ensure they have correct drawings as well as help problem solve any issues that may arise.  This means going on the assembly floor and talking with builder as well as physical.
  • Assuring project timelines are met.
  • Completing As-Built drawings
  • This is considered an in-office position as it supports a variety of departments internally as well as our external customers. 
 
Job Specification:
 
Education:
  1. High School Diploma
  2. College Education:  preferred minimum of associates in industrial/mechanical-based drafting, or
  3. Required:  2-3 years training in SolidWorks/Solid Edge or equivalent 3-D modeling program.
 
Experience:
  1. Required:  3  years of drafting/checking experience in a 3-D modeling program
  2. Strongly Prefer previous exposure to working within PDM/PLM environments
  3. Required:  Proficiency in Microsoft Office platform, specifically Outlook, Word and Excel. 
Skills:
  1. Proficiency with Solid Edge, SolidWorks, AutoCAD & Microsoft Office applications
  2. Meticulous attention to detail and quality and be a good checker.  
  3. Able to multi-task well and able to prioritize to complete projects on time – be a craftsman and generate craftsmanship work.
  4. Able to work with interruptions as well as
  5. Must have good people skills, and be able to represent the company’s image (consistent with the business motto of “You’ll like working with us!”)
  6. Must be self-initiating, independent, have good problem solving skills, work well with a team and have the ability to organize time and diverse responsibilities.
  7. Proven “customer-focus” attitude, demonstrates ability to follow up and keep promises - reliable
  8. Must be able to capture and maintain documentation to provide “as built” detail to the project management/engineering/R&D teams

Able to sitting at a computer for long periods of time.  Able to work on the equipment as needed to problem solve; which may include kneeling, stooping, bending, standing for long periods of time.  Site visits as needed may require walking long distances over uneven terrain or embankments.  Able to climb stairs is a requirement at some sites.
  4. Answer phones, meeting attendance is required for project handoffs, conference calls with customers, site owners and/or vendors as needed. 
  5. Our detailers are working within a low profile cube environment, within a team that highly collaborative with sales, application engineers, project managers etc.
