The Manufacturing Engineer position is responsible for providing manufacturing support to the Production Department in the following areas; Evaluating new and existing component parts for manufacture, creating accurate, safe and cost effective manufacturing processes, specifying and justifying suitable machinery and tooling to meet manufacturing needs and solving day to day manufacturing problems.

***Opportunity to rotate between 1st & 2nd shift will be available.***

Key Accountabilities:

  • Perform engineering tasks that deal directly with the assembly and or fabrication processes associated with the manufacture of forklifts.
  • Plan, organize, develop and implement projects or activities to optimize productivity in terms of quality, quantity, and cost.
  • Review engineering documentation for manufacturability and to support transitioning projects to production.
  • Review all documentation in preparation for release to production and recommend changes or improvements as needed including ECN process.
  • Determine parts and tools needed in order to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specifications and requirements.
  • Serve as a liaison between various engineering functions and manufacturing.
  • Develop/maintain shop floor documentation, cost reduction projects, waste elimination projects within MES.
  • Evaluate and resolve manufacturing problems.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Four (4) year IE, ME or related degree preferred and/or 7 to 10 years of Engineering or Manufacturing experience.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical/electronic components and circuitry.
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within an assembly, paint and fabrication environments.
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Engineering and/or Industrial Engineering processes (i.e. lean manufacturing, ergonomics, facility design, motion/time study, simulations, etc.)
  • Prefer DFT knowledge and experience.
  • Excellent computer skills, including MS Office and CAD/CAM. PRO-E a plus. Use of CAD for facilities layout a plus.
  • In-depth understanding of ISO and lean manufacturing.
  • Strong problem solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Previous project and contractor/vendor management preferred
  • Paint or conveyor system experience preferred
  • Previous assembly line/process layout or design preferred
