This position is responsible for providing daily factory support involving parts acceptance, troubleshooting on new and existing products, clarifying procedures and documentation and providing feedback to engineering as to the manufacturability of present and next generation products. In the performance of these duties, the candidate regularly interfaces with internal contacts from operations, engineering, and quality assurance. The candidate will also interface with global suppliers and contract manufacturers which will require some international travel.

This individual will be leading 6-Sigma DMAIC projects. Statistical analysis skills are required. Working knowledge of Minitab is a plus. Green Belt Certification desired.
Regarding parts acceptance the incumbent must be able to perform limited evaluation of production parts for acceptability and functionality based on published blueprints and specifications to determine any corrective action that may need to be taken. Use of statistical analysis is required.

Essential Functions

  1. Provide effective manufacturing support related to parts and quality issues.
  1. Solve complex manufacturing problems with the use of SPC, FMEA, process control plans, and value analysis/engineering.
  1. Be able to utilize lean principles.
  1. Must be able understand or develop computer software programs.
  1. Effectively participate in 6-Sigma DMAIC projects.
  1. Effectively evaluate our ability to mass-produce product.
  1. Design and fabricate test fixtures.
  1. Provide facility maintenance for the manufacturing area.
  1. Collect and analyze production and parts data.
Qualifications
The candidate should possess a bachelor of engineering degree or have a minimum of five years experience in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The incumbent must possess sound knowledge of the mechanical design of metal-formed stampings, electromechanical parts assembly, injected molded plastic, and tooling. Working knowledge of lean principles such as value stream mapping, SMED, Kaizen, 5S, work standardization and POKA-YOKE. The incumbent must have good oral/written communication skills and solid project management, organizational and planning skills. Must be able to present data and/or abstract concepts to win approval or acceptance. Excellent analytical skills and solid working knowledge and use of word processing, spreadsheets, and MRP software are required. Knowledge of Pro-E software desired. A preferred candidate would have the ability to create and understand computer software languages such as Visual Basic.net, ASP.net, Java, and Lab View.
