The Resident Engineer (Supplier Integration 3 Resident Engineer) will be onsite at General Motors VEC (Warren, MI) in a rapidly growing market. The Resident Engineer will be highly specialized and talented individual who can keep pace with current growth and create new opportunities for distribution. The Resident Engineer must have extensive experience working with customer DRE/validation engineer/material engineer/warranty engineer/assembly plant engineer for cooperation and problem resolution.
Essential Functions
  • Responsible for automotive glass part synchronous design work including 3D math file creation/drawing creation/design scenario creation
  • Responsible for feasibility study for each design scenario and design change
  • 3D/CAD qualification, translation, upload and maintenance of for math file design software like CATIA/NX/Team Center (both 3D math file and drawing )
  • Take part charge of quotation work, communication with customer for BOM list/design feasibility/cost impact etc.
  • Facilitate design change management from customer side to plant side including math file/drawing creation and transfer to plant and make sure plant is running in a correct way.
  • Collaborate with GM internal work activity and maintain GM internal work procedure like EWO/DFMEA/VALIDATION PLAN
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisor
responsibility.
Travel
Travel for this position will usually consist of traveling between the customer and the plant facility in Plymouth.

Required Education and Experience
  • A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and five years' automotive design experience.
  • Familiar with 3D product design work and automotive part development process.
  • Strong experience with math file design software like CATIA/NX (both 3D math file and drawing).
  • Familiar with DFMEA.

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Master's in Mechanical Engineering with relevant three years' relevant work experience.
  • Familiar with automotive glass product and material performance and automotive part production process.
  • Familiar with GM SI3 responsibility and GM process: EWO/DFMEA/WARRANTY/VALIDATION PLAN/DTS/AAR REVIEW etc.
  • Good level of Chinese and English language proficiency with the ability to effectively communicate in written and verbal form in both languages.
