  • Bachelor's degree in Robotic, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical Engineering (or related field) & 5 + years related job experience.
  • Experience with robot programming, programming control logic for Allen-Bradley or similar PLCs.
  • Ability to design electrical control systems for automated equipment.
  • Understanding of relevant electrical requirements and machine safety standards.
  • Proficiency with process integration and mechatronic systems.
  • Strong, technical hands-on oriented engineer with clearly demonstrated experience and a track record of deploying new automation technologies.
  • Technical experiences in manufacturing or deploying automation with a detailed knowledge of current automation technologies including robotics and advanced manufacturing methods and technologies.
  • Understanding of industry trends, direction and standards that guide new technology offerings, and uses technology and market intelligence to provide strategic recommendations on initiatives to achieve business objectives.
  • Understanding of sensors, robotics, complex mechanical designs and various controls for automated systems.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and knowledge.
  • Critical thinking with exceptional problem solving skills, able to work independently and in team environments.
  • Proactive, resourceful & highly motivated with good communication skills and ability to work in high output environment.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Design and manage major projects such as new machine installation, upgrades, etc. Projects range from $100K to $5M.
  • Analyze project requirements, identify and address design parameters, review engineering challenges and ensure solutions are timely and within budget.
  • Ensure all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed.
  • Work closely with manufacturing engineers, facility engineers, supervisors and machine operators to bring new automated systems into production.
  • Assist with robot cell layout and design.
  • Create design specifications and needed documentation.
  • Support the creation of custom automation solutions from initial concept to a finished product in partnership with engineering, production, maintenance and others as needed.
  • Optimize existing automated and partially automated processes to improve quality, efficiency, throughput, and cost.
  • Create and finalize designs, scope of work and safety requirements, Bill of Materials and spare part requirements.
  • Provide technology support for the direction of the automation portfolio and leverage assets to support growth in established industries / markets.
  • Study and apply mechatronic solutions to the transfer of material, components or finished goods.
  • Support integrating and programming of robots and vision systems.
  • Work closely with automation vendors and manage external contractors on installations.
Project Management:
  • Oversee project workflow and support internal and external resources to ensure on-time delivery of projects, meeting quality standards and budget expectations.
  • Electrical software design for automation and safety systems. Maintain project scope/schedule and identify scope creep.
  • Create documentation such as training documents, program backup, network diagrams, electrical drawings, etc.
  • Work with cross functional team for successful trials & qualifications.
