General SummaryUnder supervision, perform a variety of tasks related to daily Lab operations, surface process or finishing process according to department production guidelines.Essential FunctionsPerform department tasks including one or more of the following:Select lenses/frames for each RxStock lens and/or frame shelvesSort and deliver trays Key Rx parameters into LMSLog, ship, receive orders (frames, supplies, etc)Operate frame tracing unitQuality check filled RxsPackaging and/or de-boxing lensesPrepare lenses for AR coatingOperate generatorsInitial lens inspection for cosmetic defectsBlocking including prep and tapingWash up/de-blocking of lensesOperate surfacing equipmentOperate tool cutterPerform pin beveling (surface)Edger Operation Edger calibration Pin beveling operation (Finish)Hand stone operation including sizing and rollsRoll and polishOperating manual drill Mounting of frames including Zyl, metal and 3 piece Faceting and edge polishingManual edge polishingFinish blockingTintingOperating auto drill machineMachine calibration to manufacturers specificationsMaintain unit standards, processes and procedures to ensure efficient, accurate and measurable results.Maintain awareness of all unit criteria, i.e., production standards, procedures, etc.Assist in efficiently moving work through the department.Maintain company safety standards.Assist and cooperate with other departments.Job SpecificationsMinimum one year experience in a production/manufacturing environmentExperience working in a fast-paced environmentAbility to meet department standards for productivity and qualityAbility to read and write at a level necessary to accomplish the above tasksGood manual dexterity and hand/eye coordinationAbility to recognize and distinguish colors.Ability to perform physical activities requiring bending, kneeling and pulling/pushingAbility to understand and follow proceduresAbility to lift up to 30 poundsAbility to walk or stand up to 100% of the timeWorking ConditionsThe working environment is well lighted and ventilated. Individuals are typically required to stand for long periods of time. Noise and dust from power-grinding machinery and other equipment is to be expected.
