Position Responsibilities:
¿ System Support
o Primary support resource for process control and robotics systems at Southwestern United States Manufacturing and Distribution Center locations. (6-10 locations in California, Nevada, and Texas)
o Reduce recovery time from failures
o Reduce frequency of service calls
o Reduce or eliminate external vendor support costs
o Improve control system documentation to meet minimum requirement
¿ System Reliability
o Accountable for achieving uptime/reliability target for process control and robotics systems
o Ensure backup/disaster recovery processes in place and operational
o Conduct Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify and address high reliability risks
o Participate in Accelerated Root Cause (ARC) process for EHS incidents related to controls or robotics
o Develop and implement preventative maintenance program. Drive PM completion through site resources.
o Develop and manage spare parts program
o Champion lifecycle management including patching, firmware, software updates, and system upgrades
¿ Continuous Improvement
o Identify and implement continuous improvement projects using process control and robotics systems.
o Drive implementation of key strategic initiatives (e.g. process safety, cybersecurity)
o Assist with development of internal company standards
¿ Resource Development
o Recruit, train, and manage Control Engineer trainees within geographic region. Responsible for trainee learning objectives.
o Train and develop site resources (engineering, operations, maintenance) as first line support for process control and robotic systems
¿ Capital Projects
o Assist site resources and corporate engineering teams with capital projects. Ensure projects follow company standards, GSC Engineering recommendations, and industry RAGAGEP. Identify best cost solutions through replication and information sharing. Help to prioritize investments.
o Assist with commissioning, training, and site coordination for new projects
Position Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree
Bachelor's in Electrical, Chemical, Controls, or similar Engineering field
5 years of engineering experience
7 years of engineering experience with 5 years of experience in designing and/or implementing process control or robotics systems.
Experience managing and developing salaried engineers
Knowledge of chemical batch manufacturing processes
Knowledge of ISA S88 standard for batch control
PLC programming
Well versed with Rockwell PLCs and programming software
Experience with SCADA/HMI software, specifically Inductive Automation, Client iFix, Rockwell FT View
Experience with material handling robotics equipment, specifically Kuka programming software, C programming language
Certified with Continuous Improvement tools; 6 Sigma, Lean, and Root Cause Analysis.
