Job Description: Fuse steel and stainless steel parts together using a MIG and stock welder. Weld in all positions except overhead, and make satisfactory fillets, butt, lap, single bevel, double flare bevel and plug weld as required by drawing. Have knowledge of common weld symbols and be capable of referring to weld symbol chart to determine the type of weld. Must be able to set machine, adjust voltage, amperage, wire feed and select the proper electrode for obtaining quality welds. Able to change wire and gun liners. Install pieces into fixtures and perform repetitive welding operations to dimensional requirements on position of welds and location of parts. Capable of certification to AWS D1.3 and MIL-STD-1595 up to .375 thickness in steel butt and fillet joints in the vertical position using the MIG process. Understand and follow all safety requirements. Education or Trade Knowledge: Prior experience or instruction on MIG welding. Experience: Six months as MIG and stick Welder, or equivalent training. Use Equipment Such as: MIG and stick welder, fork lift and job crane. Work From: Travelers, sketches, fixtures, weld symbol reference sheets, verbal and written instructions. Entrance Requirements: Pass weld test on vertical fillet and butt joint on steel with MIG welder. Test must be satisfactory on first samples; retesting of failures requires six-month waiting period
