A Land Survey – Instrument Operator role is open on a contract basis. Land Survey – Instrument Operator performs survey work involving topographic and construction field engineering surveys, as well as other surveys required for property and right-of-way determinations.

  • Operates and maintains various surveying instruments such as transits, level, theodolite, and electronic distance measuring equipment to measure and verify elevations, angles and distances.
  • Performs mathematical calculations to establish and locate reference points, property corners, vertical and horizontal reference points, and line staking for construction projects.
  • Interprets maps, plats, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Keep proper and complete notes.
  • Perform necessary field checks of accuracy of total station, data collector and level.
  • Cleans, checks and adjusts survey instruments to assure accuracy of measurements.
  • Clears survey areas, locates markers, sets pins, benchmarks and monuments, and other survey tasks.
** This role does have some overnight travel in New York State East of Utica,  MA, VT or CT.**
