This position can be worked remotely, but candidates need to reside in the surrounding cities to have access to an office: North Charleston, SC, Huntsville, AL and Washington DC. The HM prefers candidates that are located in North Charleston. Please list candidate's City on the resume.
Responsibilities of Position:
Performs a variety of engineering work in the development of an operable system capable of meeting requirements within imposed constraints including mass, cost and schedule.
Designs and/or analyzes subsystem interfaces to ensure that subsystems are integrated and work together to form a viable complete system.
Performs functional analysis of a system to ensure it meets performance criteria and mission constraints and to feed the analysis results back to the subsystem development teams.
Usually is an engineering generalist with knowledge in several different engineering disciplines such as electrical, mechanical and aerospace.
Formulates, recommends, and directs operations and procedures to resolve engineering and/or technical problems regarding operations, staffing, and equipment utilization on a specific project or projects.
Provides technical assistance and instruction relative to design problems and the resolution of construction or operating difficulties.
Conducts special studies and investigations related to project activities and recommends changes as appropriate to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and meet changed or new requirements.
Analyzes project requirements and provides information and instruction for operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, designing, and modifying equipment as appropriate.
Plans and coordinates the work of other engineers and technical personnel, with completed assignments subject to minimum review of overall results.
Trains, directs, and assists the efforts of other personnel, as required, to fulfill the objectives of the assignment.
Serves as organizational consultant; leads multi-discipline or cross-functional team(s).
May supervise lower level engineers.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Identifies and resolves complex problems involving technical issues across multi-disciplines.
Typically develops new methods to apply to problems.
No guidelines or guidance available; regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
Integrates a broad range of inputs into job performance; includes supervisor inputs, task and project requirements, and a range of multi-discipline theories and concepts.
Interacts with senior customers on significant issues needing technical guidance, redirection, or resolution.
Decisions normally affect achievement of goals which seriously affect the image of the organization.
Communication typically occurs at all levels within or outside the organization.
Recognized within the SBU/site as a technical authority.

CompTIA Security Certification desired
Experience and Education:
MS in mathematics, engineering, computer science, or other related field and 11 years of related experience, or BA/BS in related field and 13 years of progressive, related experience. Specific contract requirements regarding education and experience will prevail. At least 8 years' experience with the following systems: Automated Access Control System Design and Installation (AMAG, Lenel, Software House, Hirsch/Identiv, or Monitor Dynamics, Vindicator...), Intrusion Detection System Design and Installation (AMAG, DMP, or Monitor Dynamics...), Video Surveillance System Design and Installation (Pelco, Milestone, Genetec, Avigilon, or Axis...), Mass Notification System Design and Installation (Cooper, American or Signal). Experience inter facing with Government customers, with ability to explain complex requirements with Government customer. Must have experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project). Must have effective communications skills.
