Maintenance Technician: Key Responsibilities
Scope of Position:  The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the safe maintenance, repair or replacement of plant equipment and systems, to ensure maximum quantity and quality, while supporting the policies, goals and objectives of the company. The technician will also perform the following duties:
Preventative maintenance and general maintenance issues. 
1.Change wear items on manufacturing and plant equipment.
2.Replace work center wear items and spare components.
3.Grease/oil work centers per PM schedule.
4.Maintain work centers in clean and orderly fashion to ensure longevity.
5.General vacuuming around arc sealers.
6.Additional duties as assigned.
Emergency Maintenance (“as needed”) - Others will be performed as scheduled preventative maintenance.
1.Troubleshoot and determine cause for machine downtime
2.Find, remove, and replace damaged components.
1.0   Essential Duties & Responsibilities
1.1     Performs all assigned duties:
1.1.1         In a safe manner in keeping with company guidelines and regulatory requirements;
1.1.2         In accord with the Occupational Safety & Health Act (OSHA);
1.1.3         Productively and efficiently.
1.1.4         Implements programs and procedures required to ensure plant cleanliness.
1.1.5         Ensures city, county, state and federal regulations relating to the maintenance department are met at all times.
1.1.6         Directs, maintains, and enforces the safety program for the maintenance department; reviews safety records to uphold standards of maximum safety for all maintenance technicians.
1.2     Maintains and repairs shop equipment.
1.2.1         Monitors operation of plant equipment and systems.
1.2.2         Reviews the operation of plant equipment and systems constantly, to minimize the unplanned downtime, anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvement.
1.3     Executes projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
1.3.1         Notifies Maintenance manager of required non-stock items to ensure inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment are reordered as necessary to minimize machine downtime.
1.3.2         Enters work order information in computerized maintenance management system (IQMS) for tracking work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history of plant equipment
1.4     Training
1.4.1         Ensures skills are up to date to ensure maintenance can be accomplished in a safe, timely and cost effective manner.
1.4.2         Coordinates activities with Plant Operations Departments
1.4.3         Communicates maintenance issues directly with the Operations Department to alert all departments of repair work and schedule downtime; in addition to maintenance technicians will perform all repairs as required for QA policies and procedures.
1.5     Participate in a wide variety of special projects as directed.
1.6     Other duties as assigned.
2.0    Education & Experience
2.1     High School or Trade School Diploma required.
2.2     Work experience should include a minimum of 1 year experience working as a certified mechanic.
2.2.1         Demonstrated mechanical and electrical knowledge and repair abilities.
2.3     Standard computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet.
2.3.1         Ability to learn the latest computer technology; mastery of all the company’s programs and systems.
2.4     Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
2.5     Certification in OSHA programs and practices a plus.

3.3     Ability to learn quickly and prioritize duties effectively.
3.4     Quality Management – the individual looks for ways to improve and promote quality and demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.
3.5     Problem Solving - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of complex or diverse variables.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or schedule form.
3.6     Judgment – the individual shall display a willingness to make decisions, exhibit sound and accurate judgment and make timely decisions.
4.0     Physical Demands
4.1     Light to Moderate physical effort required.
4.1.1         Occasional lifting or moving heavy materials in difficult work positions.
4.2     Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, stoop, life, infrequently climb, and move about the facility.
4.3     Regularly use hands, fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk and hear.
4.4     Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
5.0     Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
5.1     Safety Glasses, hearing protection and safety toe shoes must be worn at all times in designated areas.
5.2     Acceptable head covering must be worn at all times in designated areas.
5.3     Gowns, frocks, gauntlets, and gloves may be required in some operations.
5.4     Other PPE as required by the job assignment.
6.0     Work Environment - The work environment characteristics described herein are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  This position is field-based.  The actual working conditions may differ from the characteristics noted below.
6.1     Manufacturing and distribution center environment includes varying temperatures (heat and cold) and dust.
6.2     The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
6.3     Exposed to any number of elements but with none present to the extent of being disagreeable.
