Responsible for performing sediment and or metallurgical analysis on materials used in products and manufacturing processes. Work involves expert knowledge of materials and substances as well as strong analytical skills. Exercises independent judgement with minimal guidance.

**Looking for something with heat treat experience. i.e. induction, furnace or other. Someone with crank processing skills and abilities might fit especially if heat treat was related to their past experience. 

Work is of technical nature, calling for ability to make decisions within the limits of general policies and procedures.
Maintain technical control of production departments sediment and or metallurgical processes including overseeing the setup and writing of TIS and control sheets.
Instruct production and quality control personnel in the application of CQI9 Metallurgical and sediment procedures.
Metallurgist will audit lab and production areas when required to ensure compliance to CQI9 procedures.
Metallurgist will oversee the Induction hardening process of crankshafts and recommend changes required to recipe to maintain specifications set out in manufacturing drawings.
Metallurgist will make decisions within the limits of all general standards and procedures.
Metallurgist will help with field and plant failure analysis both in the lab and other on site locations.
Metallurgist will approve material meeting established criteria set out in drawings.
Metallurgist will be in contact and meet with engineering staff as required for consulting purposes.
Metallurgist will instruct lab techs in the safe operation of all lab equipment and put the procedure in place for lab evaluations to be carried out in a timely manner with least amount of interruption to the production process.
Metallurgist will ensure good safety and housekeeping standards are implemented in the lab environment.

Metallurgist should be degreed in metallurgy with minimum 5 years related experience.
Knowledge in MS word, Excel and Powerpoint – Intermediate level.
Strong interpersonal skills involving ability to work effectively cross functionally with all other employees. These are required to contribute in meetings and presentations.
Metallurgist will have full understanding of team concept in problem solving.
