Electro-Mechanical Packaging Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION: Key member of the Design Team whose focus is to realize and support conceptual designs for electrical infrastructure. Tasks involve Investigation, prototype design, integration, test, production design release, production implementation and continued support. The position requires highly motivated, extremely organized and self-driven individuals.

The core responsibilities of the Electro-Mechanical Engineering Generalist are to:
  • Communicate with Cross sector team (Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, New Product Logistics, and Product Information Management) for design and logistic release approval.
  • Deliver modified production designs due to safety, reliability and End of Life Issues.
  • Assist New Product Introduction team to deliver EME design models, documentation and EC releases to assist meeting critical milestone dates.
  • Deliver conceptual production designs and documentation.
  • Design or modify test hardware and documentation.
  • Manage co-developers for design documentation, Engineering Change implementation, and review.
  • Create, edit, review, and drive Incident Proposals and Engineering Changes to closure.
    • Self-Checking and Peer-Checking department designs and change notifications

EDUCATION: Bachelor of Science degree with major in any of the following:
Mechanical Engineering with Electronics Packaging Experience
Electro-Mechanical Engineering
Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering (taken under advisement based on work experience)
Mechanical Engineering Technology

WORK EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE: 5 to 10 years of Electro-Mechanical design & logistics including:
  • Experience in Sheet Metal design.
  • Knowledge of 3D-CAD design (with some experience using NX, Pro-E, Solid Works, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of design drafting best practices including geometric dimensioning.
  • Ability to design and document all aspects of the electrical infrastructure including:
    • AC, DC, Main power distribution (panel boards, boxes and cabinets)
    • Interconnect cables and bundles (harnessing)
    • Electronic racks, cabinets, control consoles
    • Interfacing with printed circuit board designs
      • flex and rigid including volumes and critical part locations
  • Ability to support the integration & testing of electrical & electronic systems at the module, sub-system & system level- fit check.
  • Ability to write test procedures, test specifications and test reports.
  • 3D Cad - NX preferred or other 3D CAD programs acceptable
  • DMS - TeamCenter preferred other DMS programs acceptable
  • Master Data- SAP, other Master Data Management systems acceptable
  • Office Suite - Microsoft Office – Preferred, Not Mandatory
