This position will plan, direct, and coordinate the work activities of the Maintenance Department. Responsible for day-to-day operations of the maintenance area, plant equipment, and parts room.

Principal Responsibilities:

Reviews the operation of plant equipment and systems constantly, to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvement.

Monitors operation of plant equipment and systems.
Oversees and sets up the PM schedule for the plant.
Assists with planning and implementing plant improvements and expansions of any size.
Ensures compliance to quality, food safety, HACCP, 5S and OSHA support programs; assures conformity to all company, customer and government standards.
Establishes and maintains a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for tracking work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history of plant equipment.
Communicates directly with the operations department to coordinate maintenance and repair work in the process areas.
Maintains and updates operating and training manuals for the maintenance department.
Communicates directly with the EHS Manager to resolve and discuss and issues needed.
Ensures that maintenance technicians are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated so that the maintenance program can be accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
Prepares reports, analyzes data, and makes recommendations for improving plant operations and solving maintenance-related problems.
Conducts employee performance reviews based on job descriptions to determine competency, knowledge and contributions of the maintenance technicians.
Supervises plant maintenance personnel.
Assists with hiring of maintenance personnel.
Ensures city, county, state, and federal regulations relating to the maintenance department are met at all times.
Monitors the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment and initiates reordering when necessary.
Initiates and carries out projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
Performs other duties / responsibilities as assigned by Management.



Qualifications:
  • Associates Degree in Industrial, mechanical or other technical field with two years of managerial experience, or 4 years equivalent experience
  • Experience with PLC troubleshooting, HVAC skills, fabricating, TIG and MIG welding
  • Demonstrated knowledge of motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, programmable controllers, and motor control electrical trouble shooting skills
Skills and Knowledge:
  • Must be able to successfully pass testing to demonstrate required knowledge and abilities required of the position.
  • Must have demonstrated competency as a Maintenance Manager in a continuous process manufacturing environment.
  • 10+ years prior maintenance experience in the manufacturing environment, supervisory experience a plus.
  • Advanced mechanical aptitude, basic math skills and ability to use basic gauges and measuring tools are required.

Technical and Behavioral Skills:
  • Work in a manufacturing environment where the employee is regularly required to read, speak, sit, stand, walk, lift, reach, grasp, and bend while moving about the facility.
  • Must be able to move 50 pounds a distance of 25 feet or more.
  • Must be able to stand for a 12 hour shift (sometimes longer) with regular breaks.
  • May be required to work overtime and/or weekends as needed.
  • Possess strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work well with fellow team members professionally.
  • Good communication skills.
