This position is a key role within the Product Merchant Team to support activities in the development of promotions featured in the company's cigar catalog, retail and e-commerce platforms; manage vendor relationships and buying for their respective cigar accounts.
Searching for a knowledgeable and experienced cigar Product Merchant to creatively and strategically merchandise an assortment Cigar and tobacco related products. A successful merchant will develop the brand strategy and create layouts that meet the marketing direction and ensure profit objectives are met. Position requires ability to be organized, detail oriented and flexible while working in a fast paced team environment.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the development and execution of marketing plans designed to increase sales, volume and profits.
  • Set up and attend meetings with assigned vendors.
  • May review product offering; and examine and evaluate samples submitted by vendors.
  • Provides recommendations based on review of products.
  • Ensure promotions are accurate and merchandised to company standards.
  • Works closely with Sr. Product Merchant and Product Merchant team to become familiar with products and consumers in order to develop appropriate strategies and designs for communicating to the target audience.
  • Collaborates across all departments to optimize multi-channel marketing strategies.
  • Analyzes sales and promotional trends for insight and opportunity.
  • Assist Sr. Product Manager with creating and proofing merchandise layouts (ex: catalog deals and features) per brand standards and category marketing plans.
  • Assist Product Merchant department with everyday/weekly/monthly deals.
  • Assist Product Merchant department with development of new private label concepts and ideas.
  • Learn product development and understand all pricing structures.
  • Daily monitoring of promotional inventory movement.
  • Coordinate with Warehouse/Call Center Manager for substitutions and necessary changes.
  • Ensure that proper channels of communication exist between the department and internal/external stakeholders.
  • Has a strong understanding of retail, sales, mathematic processes.
  • Oversee compliance of established Company policies and standards, such as safekeeping of Company funds (safe) and property, security, sales and record-keeping procedures, and overall maintenance of the stores by performing required audits.

  • 1 plus years of relevant work experience, degree preferred
  • Catalog and Web merchandising knowledge.
  • Cigar/Pipe Tobacco knowledge ideal
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite with strong Excel Knowledge
  • AS400 and DOMO knowledge a plus
