Data Scientist

Our client has been developing mobile apps since 2008 and created one of the first 100 iPhone apps EVER! We are looking for a Data Scientist — a hybrid "data hacker, analyst, communicator and trusted adviser” to help us grow our business.

We believe that growth is the expected outcome of a rigorous commitment to the process of testing, analysis, and optimization. We are very good about maintaining a high-tempo testing cadence, but we want to strengthen our test design, improve our ability to analyze and leverage experiment data, and we want to find better tools and systems to manage these processes.

In this position, you will bring your data science perspective to every area of our growth organization. You will work closely with product, marketing, and engineering to design and build the tools and experiments that fuel our growth.

Here's what you will do to get started:
  • You will take a deep dive into our products with our product owners and marketers. You will learn what our products do and you will study our efficiencies and inefficiencies as it relates to the collection and analysis of data
  • You will work with our development team to get a sense of the underlying technologies that serve as the foundation of our products. You will study how our data collection efforts are implemented with those technologies
  • You will audit our KPI metrics, our queries, and our testing methodologies. You will take stock of where we collect and use data well, where we are challenged, and layout a roadmap for helping us to realize our core objective of becoming a more data-driven organization

Here is what you will do to help us grow:
  • Create dashboards to communicate test results and monitor key metrics. Teach teams and management how best to understand and use these tools in their daily activities
  • Leverage data to perform intensive analysis across all areas of our business to drive product development, marketing efficiencies, and growth
  • Build models that enhance our understanding of user behavior and predict future performance of cohorts
  • Design experiments, and assist others on the growth team in designing experiments and interpreting results to draw detailed and actionable conclusions
  • Leverage your statistical knowledge to find and define trends within our products, and to use that knowledge to shape our product roadmaps
  • Present findings to senior management to drive business decisions
  • Develop machine learning, data mining, statistical, and graph-based algorithms

REQUIREMENTS
  • 2+ years of experience in a data science or quantitative analysis role
  • A bachelors degree or significant real-world experience in Math, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or other quantitative field
  • Extremely strong SQL skills and the ability to use tools such as Amazon Redshift, Wagon, and Google Analytics to drive data anlysis
  • Advanced knowledge of experimentation and statistical methods
