Product Manager - Servo and Motion
Location: Vernon Hills, IL.
Full time permanent role

  • Must be client facing.
  • 5-10 yrs of experience developing & engineering machine automation solutions using industrial grade servo systems, motion controllers, and mechatronic systems including PLC, VFD and robotics

  • Servo motor sizing
    Servo system tuning
    Motion controller programming
    Knowledge of how packaging machines work
    Should be familiar with registration, caming, function blocks etc?

Summary: Under minimal supervision, supports a servo and motion products in all aspects of marketing, while supporting management plans to achieve organizational sales goals.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
. Manage the entire product line life cycle within Americas region for Servo, Motion Control products, from strategic planning to tactical activities.
. Liaison between factory in Japan and field, developing product/functional specifications and obtaining new product scope/collateral for local market launch. Including coordinated system launch leadership, market penetration strategies, and execution of marketing mix.
. Understands applications, products, systems, and business issues of potential customers
. Provides on-site sales support for key and target customers
. Performs market, industry, and competitor research, and monitors target account activity
. Develop new sales tools, pre-engineered solutions and value propositions for accelerated growth initiatives.
. Manages projects in conjunction with Sales, Marketing, Technical Support Group and/or third parties
. Build commercial and technical support networks and infrastructure including demo systems, show room and mobile trailer
. Coordination with Supply Chain Management on sales forecasts, new product introductions, and product phase-out, in an effort to support inventory planning
. Performs other duties as assigned

Supervisory / Management Responsibilities: None
Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel 25% (America's and Overseas a couple of times a year to Japan).
Essential Education, Skills and Experience
. Engineering Degree, preferably 4-yr EE. Mechatronics or MBA a plus.
. 5-10 yrs of experience developing & engineering machine automation solutions using industrial grade servo systems, motion controllers, and mechatronic systems including PLC, VFD and robotics
. Familiarity with industrial automation market space within verticals such as: F and B Packaging, Machine Tool, Automated Assembly, Material Handling and Printing
. Technical knowledge of motion control including: Function Blocks, IEC-61131-3, PLC open programming, single axis indexing, multi-axis synchronized motion, interpolation, kinematics, servo sizing and tuning, Pack-Client, and deterministic control networks (EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP, ProfiNET, CC-Link IE etc).
