Detailed Job Description:
o Determine the project approach, staffing, responsibilities, and schedule.
o Develop and/or review estimates and estimating assumptions for the project's schedule, effort, and cost using established estimating models, best practices, and past experience. The resulting estimates account for all activities in the project scope, including project management and application development tasks, software quality assurance reviews, and vendor and contract management activities.
o Define team member roles and expectations, and ensure timely feedback. Ensure that project resources receive any necessary training and are used effectively.
o Review, and be responsible for, the overall development and integration of requirements.
o Measure and monitor progress at clearly defined points in the process to ensure that the project is delivered on time, within budget, and that it meets or exceeds expectations. Balance scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risks. Make adjustments as necessary.
o Define the project iterations strategy. Manage and evaluate iterations.
o With other leads, develop, implement, and maintain the Project Plan, including the configuration management, risk management, project measurement, and quality management plans.
o Ensure that all requirements, project plans, and changes to commitment are communicated to all affected team members.
o Manage relationships and coordinate work between different teams at different locations. Manage relationships with all suppliers and subcontractors. Monitor their progress and adherence to the contract.
o Ensure that the project team follows all quality assurance processes, including periodic reviews and transitions.
o Participate in quality management reviews.
o Review and manage all changes to the requirements through a formally defined scope change process.
o Represent the project team in IT and Business meetings. Obtain buy-in from senior management for all key project plans, commitments, and changes including requirements, quality assurance plans, budget, schedule, and scope changes.
o Ensure that the project's assigned portion of the Business Case planned value is delivered.
o Ensure that the end product fulfills the contract and meets the sponsor's expectations.
o 7+ years experience in Project Management, preferably in a technical environment
o 2+ years experience in Project Management in the Travel & Leisure Industry (Ship Project experience preffered)
o Project Management Professional certification preferred
o Ability to work well with a wide variety of people with varying technical skill sets and business knowledge is required (from the very abstract to the very granular.)
o Proven team leadership or project management experience
Necessary Skills, Abilities, and other Qualities:
o Must have strong application development and/or technical infrastructure experience
o Must have solid understanding of full project life cycle and management methodologies
o Must have excellent communication (oral and written) and interface effectively with all levels of management as well as the technical team, and concisely, logically and accurately present issues verbally and in written format.
o Effectively coordinate communications between/among cross functional teams, resolve conflict and maintain confidentiality.
o Strong problem-solving, supervisory experience and team leadership skills
o Must be a strong team player and have good interpersonal and collaborative skills
o Fosters a team environment and demonstrates the ability to promote the team environment, yet work individually on each person's skill development
o Must possess excellent organizational, time management, judgment, and decision-making skills
o Ability to manage multiple tasks
o Reliable, self-motivated, and focused on high quality delivery of work products; willing to accept responsibility and accountability
o Outstanding motivational, people and task management skills
