Experienced project lead/manager with proven project experience with a technical lift and shift of an non-SAP DW/BI solution to SAP HANA Enterprise.
Project manager will be responsible for the successful delivery/outcome of the engagement and ensure scope, approach, timelines, budgets and customer success is assured.
Manage a team of 2-3 onsite resources and up to 6 offshore resources.
Project Overview:
<<Client>> is looking to partner with Method360 to provide consulting services in support of their planned migration and decommissioning of <<CLIENT>>'s Oracle BI environment.
The primary business driver of this effort is to eliminate the renewal of Oracle licensing and associated infrastructure through the migration of all Oracle-based BI applications to the new Enterprise Data Platform (SAP HANA database) before May 31, 2018.
2.Engagement Approach:
It was determined <<CLIENT>> has decided to migrate the Oracle DW landscape to SAP HANA Enterprise with aged/historical data optionally residing in near-line storage.
This option would essentially "lift and shift” selected Oracle DW objects to a dedicated SAP HANA database schema -- a separate HANA schema that could reside on the same H/W platform as the existing BW-HANA system.
The following are high-level activities associated with the project:
  • 1.Profile Oracle BI reports, data models, and integrations for use and future need (can be skipped if <<CLIENT>> decides to simply take all reports, models, and integrations into the target landscape)
  • 2.Design target data flows (SAP HANA w/ Dynamic Tiering) based on existing reporting structures
  • 3.Identify associated data integrations and reports including all dependencies; Create a master RICEF list to serve as basis for project tracking and update a phased/agile-like plan for execution
  • 4.Kick-off lift-and-shift + development of data flows (Full stack -> Source – ETL – HANA/DT models)
  • 5.Create new HANA semantic layer (I.e. Calculation Views)
  • 6.Convert existing BOE CMS repositories from Oracle to Sybase ASE
  • 7.Transition Business Objects (BOBJ) BI reports/universes to consume new HANA-based views
  • 8.Run parallel testing between existing Oracle DW objects and new SAP HANA-DT objects
  • 9.Prepare for and execute waves of Production deployment and release with business users
10.Assist <<CLIENT>> with preparations for the decommission and archive of legacy Oracle databases
