Navy Navigation System Technician

Position Summary:

Life Cycle Engineering is currently seeking a Navy Navigation System Technician (NAVSSI) out of our San Diego, CA office. The selected person will be interfacing with U.S. Navy and civilian engineers, program managers and other support team members, as well as equipment manufacturers.

Contract Requirements:
  • Requires active DoD Secret Clearance or Interim Clearance
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
 
  • Perform Government production processing services to include quality assurance inspections and system grooming.
  • Primary Technical Inspector (TI) for the following find and report only events:
    • Board of inspection and Survey (INSURV)
    • TYCOM Material Inspection (TMI)
    • Pre-INSURV Assessment (PIA)
    • Ballistic Missile Defense Readiness Assessment (BMDRA)
    • Integrated Class Maintenance Plan (ICMP)
    • Sea Trials acceptance Light Off Assessment (LOA)
  • Primary SME POC for the following find, fix, and re-fresh training groom events:
    • Combat Systems, Command, Control, Communications, and Computer
    • Readiness Assessment (C5RA)Total Ship Readiness Assessment (TSRA)
    • Provides SME technical consulting via distance support, onboard on-site platform technical support services, and user refresh training to include:
  • Primary Point of Contact (POC) for daily Fleet Technical Assist (FTA) functions.
  • Experienced working under extreme pressures of Casualty Repairs (CASREPs) in delicate timeframes in support of naval ship schedules.
Required Education, Skills, and Experience:
  • Experience / familiarity with lab infrastructure in support of Test, Evaluation, and Operation of NAVSSI equipment
    • Alternating Current (AC) Electronics
    • Direct Current (DC) Electronics
    • Using electrical Wiring diagrams
    • Using system block and interconnect diagrams
  • Experience with assembly, testing and evaluation of electronic systems
    • Includes RAID, NAS, UPS, TDU, SPARC, and Dummy Load Module
    • Troubleshooting NAVSSI Lite
  • Knowledge of Open Systems Architecture compliant embedded system hardware components including:
    • Input/output signal interfaces
    • VME Cards
    • US Navy Shipboard PNT combat, positioning, timing, sensor, weapons and communication data links
  • Experience writing Test plans, test procedures and test reports
*** Military background is desired, 10+ years, less than 10 years acceptable if knowledge and ability are exceptional***
 
Physical Demands & Expectations
  • Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting (up to 50 pounds), and standing; occasional prolonged sitting.
  • Ability to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistance.
  • Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment.
  • Ability to travel up 10% of the time (California, Hawaii, possibly Japan)
