Database Administrator

Position Summary:

As Database System Administrator, you will support the Contractor Service Support of the Coalition and Allied Program’s Collaboration at Sea (CAS), Secure Releasable (SECREL), Combined Enterprise Regional Information Exchange System-Maritime (CENTRIXS-M) Communications Systems and Naval Tool for Interoperability and Risk Assessment (NTIRA) systems for Support Navy Information Forces (NAVIFOR) in the Suffolk, VA area. 
Clearance Requirement:
  • Must have an active DoD Secret security clearance
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Maintain SQL Server on dB Server/s including managing user accounts and passwords per DISA and Navy policies and procedures.
  • Monitor daily data pulls from external data sources and monitor daily email notifications from server which provides status on daily pulls.
  • Determine cause of failure and reattempt unless further engineering is required.
  • Submit necessary issues into requirement/trouble ticketing management tracking systems.
  • Perform daily NIPR and SIPR synchronization of data.
  • Perform NIPR and SIPR functionality synchronization for new functionality.
  • Maintain versioning control for databases for production databases per versioning policy.
  • Perform daily and annual backups of databases.
  • Manage and control long term storage at government resourced and designated locations.
  • Provide systems/networks/databases/cloud administration in support of CENTRIXS, CAS, and NTIRA
Required Education, Skills, and Experience:
  • Must be IAT Level II or IAT Level III compliant (Security+ or equivalent) within 6 months of start
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other Engineering discipline required. Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in lieu of each year of formal education may be substituted for a formal degree.
  • Five (5) years of experience providing SQL Server Database Administrator service desk services Tiers I, II, and III across a variety of hardware platforms and software programs.
  • Five (5) years of demonstrated experience working with SQL Server (2008, 2012, & 2016 or later) in a Windows Server environment, database operations such as creating tables, views, stored procedures, and functions, database optimization of SQL Server database objects, and Oracle and SQL Server connections and data pulls.
  • Demonstrated experience performing Information Assurance (IA) security procedures, DISA STIGs for database implementation, operation, and encryption.
  • Experienced working with database versioning software such as RedGate, Liquibase or similar software. Demonstrated experience in a software testing environment.
Physical Demands and Expectations:
  • Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting (up to 15 pounds), and standing; occasional prolonged sitting
  • Ability to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistance
  • Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment
