Planner Estimator 

Position Summary: 
 
Life Cycle Engineering is looking for a qualified Planner Estimator to join our team in Apra Harbor, Guam. As Sr. Engineering Technician, you will provide over the shoulder planning and estimating guidance, training and support to Submarine Tender FMA Sailor planners in the areas of shipboard mechanical systems, electrical systems, structural maintenance and inspection, or combat systems primarily for homeported and deployed submarine as well as some naval surface ships. This is a mentoring and teaching position intended to produce the highly proficient maintenance planners of the future.

Contract Requirements:
  • Must be a US citizen with a CURRENT and ACTIVE DoD Secret security clearance.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Observe Preparation of Quality Assurance (QA) documents and Technical Work Documents in compliance with Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM) requirements.
  • Research technical requirements via Advanced Technical Information Support (ATIS), historical shipyard work documents in the Advanced Industrial Management (AIM and AIMXP) databases and / or HITKIT database, and material information in the Material Requirements (MRQT) database.
  • Provide one on one, small group and occasionally classroom training to FMA planners in areas of maintenance planning, technical drawing usage, Submarine Maintenance Standard Usage, research techniques and testing requirements.
  • Attend FMA Planners in the conduct of shipboard inspection of potential worksites to fully identify scope of work, boundaries, and interferences to be removed.
Required Education, Skills, and Experience:
  • At least 10 years practical engineering experience which should include the operation, test, maintenance and repair of naval submarines and surface ships in hull, mechanical, electrical, electronic, and ordnance equipment and systems
  • Experience in authoring and review of Technical Work Documents
  • Ability to reference and understand Submarine Maintenance Standards (SMS)
  • Proficiency in the use of ATIS, AIM, AIMXP and MRQT 
Physical Demands and Expectations:
  • Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs and ladders, bending, stooping, kneeling reaching and standing; occasional prolonged sitting
  • Ability to utilize computer systems and applications including the Microsoft Office Suite, printers, copiers and scanners for compiling and communicating information as well as for preparation of reports and history files
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
